Who: The entire camp + special guests.
What: Wolves have broken through the camp barriers!
When: Late Wednesday January 29 into early morning on January 30
Where: Various camp locations.
Why: Some canines think they can show Camp Half-Blood who's boss.

It starts with a scream.

The evening harpies, better known as camp's alert system for kids who are out past curfew, have some news for everyone, flying through the camp and shrieking through cabin doors to wake everyone up if they're asleep. (Unless, of course, you're untrained and too young or incapable of fighting tonight. Demeter cabin will be your place of refuge.) After the first call to duty, campers have risen to the occasion with their various plans and promises, patrolling the border and building weapons specifically for their new enemies. The Full Moon passed with only a few howls, much to the surprise of many.

No, these wolves have other plans for the New Moon. Aligned with Gaea and followers of Lycaron, they're a group of six renegades looking for a show and perhaps a tasty snack. One of them just so happens to be in the business of fussing with the Mist, undoing someone's hard work to let in her comrades.

They've got bared teeth, blood on their nails, and a penchant for chaos. Camp, it's time to wake up.

Okay, yeah, probably not. I was thinking more Hades rises up from the ground and calls me presumptuous and then takes action. But I'll take that NOT being the option, definitely.

The gods have way more important shit on their hands than smiting us. If they didn't, I'm pretty sure I'd have gotten a lecture or two from my father.

Look! We've come up with a battle strategy. Excellent.

[She chuckles, but it's hard to stay upbeat when you know there are wolves on the prowl.]

[Gabe's a little faster than Courfeyrac, but not by much. Mostly? He wants to give this chucklehead a taste of his own medicine. He stops in his tracks when they've caught up with Zane, shouting out to him.]

Hey, fuckass. Turn around.

"No, not like Bigfoot." Walt scoffs a little, rolling his eyes, but he's still not dropping his guns. "Patterson and Gimlin got her way long ago! Like, back in the SIXTIES! I'm after the Jersey Devil- wait. You guys are trying to-"

Oh no. He's said too much. Shit.

Thinking of nice things is only a good distraction when other people will think about them with you... Instead of attacking you for thinking it.

[He shrugs, though. He's not really up for having a super deep conversation with a stranger about all of what had happened and his own issues.]

[The concern just gets Courfeyrac to stare at him. Seriously, just staring.]

Look, we can talk about it later if it's that important to you. I don't want to distract from the camp's safety with my personal woes.

No. Not junior prom. Technically I'm graduating this year - or at least, would be.

[He so did.

He's speaking to her as he's running, of course, debating the values of going invisible at a time like this.]

See anybody?

That bad? Sorry, I shouldn't go poking around into your business, that's probably rude.

[He's just got this weird habit where he has to try to intervene when it feels like he should.]

But hey, I was just kind of confused by all of it. I don't feel like *I* need to go on the attack, so there's one person, right?

Well, but from the perspective of judgemental intruder. Not that I'm all that special but. It kind of feels like putting your feet on the table in somebody else's house, so it's better to make sure?

"Thanks, but believe it or not, I worked that out for myself." Shocking, he knows. More hunters, here in camp. They must have a touch of clear sight to make it in the business, let alone to find this camp. But even if they had, most mortals can't step inside the boundaries.

'Some girl' let them in. Some girl here in this camp brought them here to help them hunt the wolves. And there's more of them than this kid.

"Wait, Bigfoot is a girl?"

Dean, that is not the thing to focus on here. Focus on the dumb kid with the guns. He gives the guy an incredulous look; if they came here to hunt the wolves, if they were brought here by someone in the camp, they should at least know that most of the kids here don't need protecting.

"I've got two questions for you," he says finally. "One - how many of you are there? And two - you actually think this is a normal summer camp, don't you? Still being held in the middle of winter, for Christ's sake, and you actually think we're all regular kids."

I guess? I've never been a well-behaved guest.

"Wanted to be sure, he's not quite as... capable looking." Callie wanted a way to phrase that which didn't come off as directly calling the kid a wimp. He was still holding a gun, but man did this kid carry none of the same air to him as Dean.

Callie tried to decide where was the best place to look for 'some girl' that could contact hunters. This pretty much eliminated the Romans. None of the legion would do something like this without direct word from Reyna or Jason. The Greek campers were probably, as much as she hated to admit it, not likely to do this either. The full time campers wouldn't have dealings with Hunters, and the part-timers have homes to go to.

Still too many choices to work through, only headaches lay on that road. "Third question, how many of your friends care about collateral damages?"

Dean had shown less than... exact care, about the different types of monsters. That some might not be a threat. Which honestly, before being here, Callie would have agreed with. But he still seemed to her like he wouldn't kill an innocent to get to a monster, nor would this wimp, but if his friends were less... civilized. That could be a problem.

[But reckless is her middle name! Still, she nods her head and agrees because he'll definitely not let her help fight if she argues with that.]

Thank you. Really...

[She would have found her way out of her cabin again even if he had taken her back, but this at least gets rid of one step.]

Didn't know about your guitar. Sorry to hear about that.

[Sometimes she honestly wondered how good of an idea it was to keep so many demigods, and now other pantheon's kids and followers, in one place. The gods themselves didn't get along and yet they expected their kids to. She's a little too wrapped up in her own thoughts to notice Maya's blushing.]

So, Miss Impulsive... We're off to shoot exploding arrows at werewolves are we?

Make this be over with?

[Dora let out a quiet laugh and made a face.]

No, it's fine really. Gotta get used to this sometime, right?

[ Arthur let's Merlin take his arm again with only the minimal amount of grumbling - and even that's mostly for show. He does, however, offer an incredulous look when he suggests venturing deeper into the forest, because is he out of his mind? ]

... You're not serious.

[ Perhaps he might've been more willing if he was by himself, or Merlin wasn't using him as a human crutch, but there's no way he's risking the safety of the very person he's been out looking for. ]

Merlin, I've only just found you.

[ Believe it, Merlin, he was out here looking for you. Mordred too - and it's about time they stopped wasting time. ]

Come on, we have to find Mordred. With any luck he won't have been as idiotic as you.

We got one. Thanks to Gale and, though she won't admit it, I'm certain Annie had something to do with it too.

[But she looks just as proud, glancing from him down to the woods again and nodding her head.]

Injuries are bound to happen, but it's best that there are no major ones that have been brought to our attention just yet.

Yeah. At least I got you and a couple others.

[Fine, that gets him to smile a little.]

"Entering the fray" would be one way to put it, yes, although I'd prefer to consider it protecting those in need.

[ Because this time he isn't here for the adrenaline rush and the enjoyment of it. He's here because the camp is his family. Running a hand over his mouth, Arthur double checks their immediate surroundings. Despite the general air of unease? Hephaistion's brief report seems to be accurate. ]

There are better ways to make sure it stays that way that hope, Hephaistion.

[ His fingers curl around his sword. ]

A patrol?

[ They'll make a good pair, Arthur knows it. ]

Mmm.

[Merlin's confused, because he is serious, and he's having trouble understanding what the problem is. And then Arthur explains that this is more a search and rescue than an offensive assault.]

Arthur, wait-

[But even if his ankle wasn't injured, Arthur's strong enough to manhandle him. He's already guiding him away. Merlin looks back over his shoulder at the mistform.]

Prince! Find the werewolves! Attack!

[But the "dog" just slinks along like smoke behind them.]

[ Arthur glances behind them just in case - and would you look at that, he's actually pleased to see that "Prince" is ignoring his master's commands. He smiles smugly despite his unease and tightens his grip on Merlin's arm. ]

You see? Even he realises it's a stupid idea.

[ Small miracles and all that. He's even more relieved that the mistform dog hasn't tried to attack him yet - he's sort of dragging his master along by the elbow and stomping all over his plans, after all. Perhaps it recognises the fact that there are greater dangers than Arthur on the prowl tonight. ]

So.

[ He clears his throat. ]

Should I ask why you thought it'd be a good idea to come out here and do this by yourself?

Oh, my mistake. [ said almost flippantly. ] The rest of us are delayed too, okay.

[ she's not running, though she's not meandering, either, peeking around trees until she hears somebody cough and whips her head around in the darkness. ]

Not quite.

Just so I know the rules before I accidentally really fuck up.

I mean, human foster parents or friends' parents are kind of different than getting the divine involved.

[Hah. A smile! He knew he could get that to happen eventually.]
