Dean found where to go an easy choice. The woods could give him cover, sure, but he'd have just as much trouble getting in a shot as the werewolves would have trying to get at him - more, actually, because that was their native territory. The pine? Too obvious. The cabins would have plenty of folks protecting the kids, so he wasn't needed there. Arena - he didn't want them to get that far in. That left one place.

He'd have a snack right there at his fingertips, in case things got boring.
