This is going to be a very poor analogy that I'm about to make, but I'm just taking a small lesson from it:
The way of battle during the Revolutionary War was incredibly old school. The revolutionaries decided to learn a thing or two from the Native Americans and took up guerrilla warfare. The Redcoats, prepared to face them in the usual regimented lineups, were totally surprised to find them sneaking up from unexpected places. There's a lot of merit in listening to and learning from other people.
