THE QUEST TO TAKE BACK STOLEN ITEMS

Why: It's time to perform a little search and rescue.



Camp Half-Blood was broken into by the Gaea-aligned Red Room organization a month ago, in the hubbub of the camp also being invaded by a deadly werewolf pack and monster hunters. Since then, the camp has been locked down - no one leaves, only key people get in. Meanwhile, Chiron and Mr. D have been really putting their heads together, trying to organize a crack-team of campers to go retrieve the items that the Red Room stole, and it's high time they went out on an little rescue mission.

This is what was stolen from Camp Half-Blood by the Red Room:

The directors have chosen campers based on their skills and intellect to set out to find the items. In addition, Rachel Elizabeth Dare has issued this prophecy for the group:

In the city of swirling winds
Six campers' quest begins
The building dwarfed by only one
Brings riches untold and lives undone
To see the truth behind the lies
One must look with unburdened eyes

The questers are expected to leave at noon on February 23, and are asked to try and return by March 3. They will be equipped with backpacks containing a small bedroll, two vials each of nectar (one-half of the vial will cure most wounds, a whole vial will cure fatal wounds) and one piece of ambrosia (one half will cure most wounds, a whole piece will cure a fatal wound), mortal first-aid equipment like bandages, matches, a length of rope, and three golden drachmas to facilitate IMs with. They may take their weapons to aid them, as well as any special items they may have on their person at this time.

[It's time to make camp for the night and maybe make sense of the clues in the prophecy. But how will campers get to the 'city of swirling winds'? Make your plans, questers.]

FEBRUARY 25-28: TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS

MARCH 3: THE RETURN TO CAMP

[ For the most part, Leo has everything he'd considering taking right here in his tool belt, so there's not much preparation to be done on his part, though he did shove that knife Artemis had given him a while back into one of the pockets, just in case. The only other things he's got to do is find Scout, because he thinks she'll come in handy on this quest, and say goodbye.

His attitude today is different from his first quest, though. Leo has a personal stake in this one, so he's trying to hide the air of grim determination under an excited grin. How well is that working out? Pretty well, unless you're aware of what exactly is counting on this. ]

[For a quest, Margot's packed light on the weaponry -- just a shield and her trusty knuckle guard daggers. She's polishing the daggers with the edge of her sweater's sleeve, sitting by the campfire; it's not really doing much, but it's enough to keep her busy and keep the antsyness down.]

Sooo... Any ideas on the whole the prophecy thing? 'Cause there are a lot of cities with big buildings.

[ Natalie, normally a master of stealth, is very obvious about peeking around the corner twice before approaching him, hands behind her back. She almost doesn't want to see him because it just makes her ache all over. Nat has never been a nurturer or a protector and she knows he can do this but she always doubts.

He surely must see her in between meals before she finally emerges from her poorly chosen hiding spot around the crafts cabin. The smile is secure. ]

[ He smiles back easily, glad to see her before they get going. Scout peeks at them from a nearby table, but otherwise leaves them be. ]

[Of all people, Dany is happy that Leo has been chosen to go on this quest. There are so very few people she would trust with the lives of her dragons, but Leo is one of them. The thing she is afraid of, though, is what may happen. After all, there is the burial shroud that campers need to make for questers every time one goes out on an official quest.

That's what scares her. That she'll lose her dragons and her brother. She's known them both for a short time, relatively speaking - but they're so dear to her, more precious than all the riches in the world.

And there's the Oath, too.

Before he leaves, Dany comes up to him and silently clasps his hands in hers.]

[Cosette's got her bow and arrows all ready to go, though truth be told she's a little unnerved about having to actually need them outside camp. It's her first quest and she's a ball of nerves and excitement, taking out the tense feeling on the ends of her hair by twirling it repetitively.

If someone wants to say goodbye, she'd probably appreciate some words of encouragement or advice.]

[ For once, he looks fairly serious. There's still a curve at the corner of his mouth, but it's considerably more solemn than what he would normally wear. This quest means a lot to Dany, and he doesn't want to fail her. ]

We'll bring them back, Dany. Don't worry.

{She knows that. She knows the gravity of this situation, knows what's hanging over their heads. His head. And she gives a solemn little nod, not letting go of him.]

I know. You have to.

[A quest. She gets to go on a quest.

Margot knows she should be more concerned for herself (these things are dangerous and death is a very real possibility,) but the anticipation of getting to go head-to-head with the Red Room again is over powering. There's nothing she would like more than to cause a little havoc for them, as a really twisted thank you.

Sometimes, you have to see the bright side to things and that was hers. It's the thing keeping her grounded, keeping her from freaking out.

Packing doesn't take her long. The only things she brings in addition to the supplies are a shield and her signature weapons. She's said her goodbyes to Beau, made sure she had someone to stay with while she was gone.

Now it's just waiting to roll out, ugh.]

[His sister is going on a quest! Charlie hasn't quite grasped how dangerous this is. After all, no one died during the werewolf attack and to him, quests are synonymous with being the hero, fighting the dragon, and saving the day.

He comes running up to her, going to wrap her in a bear hug.]

Cosette, Cosette! Aren't you excited?

[ He smiles a little brighter, trying to keep her hopes up. ]

We will. Scout's going to help, too.

I'd hoped you would bring her. That's what I intended her for.

[Well, one of many things, anyway. She nods a little, searching his face, staring up at him. Does he have a plan, or does he plan to run in, arms blazing?]

[ This is the same old song and dance for Annabeth. She wants to do right by her siblings, and the rest of her camp as always. For a while now, she has taken a passive role as far as questing goes, sticking to intelligence and planning for the time being since October.

Leaving Percy is always hard, but she knows that sometimes they're better off with one of them at homebase and the other abroad.

She can be found cleaning her sword in front of Athena cabin with her tablet to the side on the steps as she goes over maps and a text version of the prophecy. ]

*Speaking of someone for her dog to stay with.*

Hey, make sure my sister comes home, okay?

Oh, and if you die I'll have to come to the Underworld to kick your ass for it. And to bring you your dog.

[Beau loves Auntie Maya, yes she does. Actually, Beau kind of loves everyone. For now.]

'Course. I won't let anything happen to her.

[She'll do her damnedest, anyway.]

...If you did, do you think that'd make her a hellhound? Because that'd be kinda awesome.

[Flynn approaches Annabeth with a smile. He's grown attached to the Athena kids, and while he's proud that Annabeth got chosen, he's also concerned for her.]

I've got a suspicion that you've got a plan?

[He means it as an affectionate tease. Girl does a lotta studying, man, though he's not one to say anything about that.]

[ Without another word, she throws her arms around Leo, pulling him for a hug with her eyes shut tight. Subtly, she slips another protective stone into his toolbelt - it's strong and heavier than it looks, meant to momentarily shield him from a potential attack - her fingers light to the touch so he hopefully doesn't notice. ]

[Ven has very few preparations to make for this quest. He came to camp with nothing but the shirt on his back and he's not bothered to gather many possessions since then, aside from a couple of trips with a satyr to the nearby town to grab some more clothes. He's stuffed those in a backpack and tied a sleeping bag from the Jupiter tent city on top of that, along with a few other odds and ends like ambrosia and trail mix. Hopefully Chiron or Mr. D will give them some money to feed themselves, since he's kind of fresh out of American cash.]

[But he'll be waiting to go a good bit before the actual departure time, so he'll be hanging out in the cabin green until then looking for any of his friends to say goodbye.]

[ Cosette's chat with Heather when Johnny left really did mean a lot to her so she swoops down on her, slinging a comforting arm around her shoulders. ] Hey, [ She sings. ]

You excited? You ever been on a quest before?

[ He's a bit surprised by the open show of affection, but he gladly returns the gesture, wrapping his arms around her tightly. He doesn't even notice that she's touched his belt, the stone easily being hidden by the magic imbued in it. ]
