Why: It's about time we try to one-up the Red Room.

They almost sent the group sans prophecy, as times are tense, but their trusty Oracle had brought forth another one, short and sweet.

Chiron has provided the questers with the location, and the standard backpacks of supplies, just in case. There is, after all, no such thing as a simple quest when it comes to Camp Half-Blood. There are also various modes of transportation he can offer, but he will leave that up to the group to choose their preferred method. It is no easy task, gathering information on an elusive group of evil demigods, but this is a reliable team.

[ It shouldn't take that long to reach this quaint town. You'll find yourselves in the cute downtown area, full of little shops. There are no clues here, but the townsfolk sure are helpful and nice. (Be suspicious.) ]

[ Once you've escaped that mess - this isn't far from the downtown area - look through the rooms carefully. Looks like the RR got cocky and didn't do a clean sweep. ]

[ Hail the returning heroes! They've got some worrisome information on their hands, but at least they're safe! ]

[ Gale is seated on the steps of the Nemesis cabin, a bag in his lap. He's currently going through, checking the inventory and making sure everything he might need is there. Nectar, ambrosia, other medical supplies, rope, assorted other things... Yep, all there. And he has his sword and bow and arrows ready to go, as well. He almost seems eager to get going. ]

[Elizabeth is way too excited. A simple recon mission, sure, but she hadn't been on a proper Camp Half-Blood quest in forever. Seriously. Like, 100 years forever.

She's got her bag all packed, her boots laced up, and her air thrown back. However, unlike the others, she has no visible weapons. Part of the fun of being a hunter is being able to summon them.]

Good luck, Centurion, [Hazel says as she approaches Gale, looking at him fondly. Her new Centurion. And wow, was he as good of one as ever.]

I don't think you'll need it at all.

[Annie is beaming as she comes up to Gale. After a moment's hesitation, she wraps him in a hug.]

Be careful, Gale. [She's so proud of him.]

[Lydia is conflicted. She's pissed off that she's not going, angry at Gale for choosing others to go instead of her. But he's also leaving, and the mission is dangerous, and she knows if something happens to him she'll regret not being there when he leaves camp. Her lips are pressed together so tightly they almost disappear as she watches him in silence for a moment, until finally there's a subtle relaxing of her mouth.]

You know, there's an old Greek saying that people would give to those they care about as they leave for war.

[John is hanging out on the roof of Cabin 1 for most of the morning. He had a small back with a few necessities, but he knew he could get by on almost nothing if he had to, so he wasn't worried. He was better off this time going to Virginia, then he had leaving it the last time.]

[He tried to ask himself how he felt about that, but really all he could think of was "man, I sure want to punch Markel in the face" and decided that he was pretty okay with this quest. Besides, it beat standing around and his info might actually help them.]

He was hanging around so that he could leave with his other cabin mate, Elsa. He'd already received a going away present from Eiji, who was ...odd but definitely well meaning. Besides, who else could brag about getting underwear from Thor?]

[He'll either be on the roof or waiting to head off with the others, with his bag on his shoulders and his hammer strapped to his belt.]

[ Gale smiles at Hazel, a little disappointed he couldn't take the whole Fifth Cohort with him. There's only three of them; it would be doable. But he did ask for volunteers, and it's only fair to take those who respond first. ]

Thanks, Hazel. I'll take what I can get.

[ It is his first quest, after all, even after seven years. He may need luck, whether his grandmother might like it or not. (Oh, the stories he's heard about Invidia complaining about luck.) ]

[ For once, Gale is not at all hesitant to hug Annie back. He wants to prove to her that the decision to make him Centurion was a good one. ]

[ Gale raises an eyebrow, curious. ]

What if they don't have a shield?

[ His was lost somewhere down the line, and he hasn't missed it once. ]

[Her eyebrow lifts.] It's a metaphor. I'm wishing you good luck.

[He's being infuriating and obtuse, which she is finding oddly charming and that makes her even more irritated and irritable. She does her best to keep it back behind her eyes.]

You know, my grandmother doesn't think very much of luck.

[ Okay, maybe he is being kind of a jerk right now, and he does feel bad about not taking Lydia since she obviously expected to be brought along. He smiles anyway. ] But thanks.

[She didn't volunteer, because it was her fault that Gaea was rising again. She didn't want anyone else to know. Anyone else except Nico, at least.]

You don't need to thank me, you know. I'm being serious.

But I think you'll do just swell- er, great.

[She gives him a soft smile.]

If you don't, you know Lydia will give you a hard time. [And she will, too, possibly.

Maybe.

She's already giving me a hard time, [ he says with a snort. ] Maybe she'll forgive me if I do a good job.

It's good timing, finding this place through the Iris message. I was starting to get restless.

And you'll do a great holding up the fort while John and I are gone, right? Shouldn't take more than a few days, but someone has to represent the Fifth.

[Gale is a jerk and she totally hates him she's worried about him anyway.]

Depends on whether you think you can make your own or not.

[Uh-oh. Was there discord in the Galydia world?]

I know. You'll get out, and you'll do well. Hopefully, we can actually make some moves to take the Red Room down. I'm tired of waiting.

[Annie pauses for a moment.]

Gale? When you go... If you can, I mean, I don't expect you to be able to, or to find anything, but... If you see anything about my family? Please, please, please, let me know. I... I need to know. [That she didn't kill them. If the Red Room was responsible for their deaths.]

Of course, Centurion, [She said with a slight smile, thankful that he didn't notice her slang error. Steve was bringing out her 40s slang again.]

I think we have to make our own.

[ He hesitates, but decides to add, ] Next time we'll go together. If you want.

She's upset to be left behind. [ Shrug. There isn't much he can do about it now.

His expression turns serious then, as he takes in her request. Annie never did figure out anything definitive, did she? He nods. ] I'll look. And you'll be the first to know if I find anything. I promise.

Good. I'm counting on you to keep our good reputation going.

[ Ha, a joke. Who knew? At least they're not mocked so much now, as they were in New Rome. Gale would be working to turn that around again, like Jason had, if they were. ]
