Who: Everyone at camp.
What: Apollo's sacred day.
Where: The ampitheater.
When: August 7, 8:30 PM.
Why: Apollo's at camp today, and as the god of music, he's holding a dance.

It was decided at the meeting of the summer gods, the Summer Solstice, but it took Apollo physically coming to the Big House and scolding Mr. D for being lazy and not putting up any fliers to actually get the god of wine to do it, a week in advance.

Apollo prides himself on being the god of just about everything - though Mr. D would say, out of the cocky god's earshot, that he's the god of everything nobody else wanted to be the god of. Because of this, he's always had a self-assured attitude which is sometimes hard to deal with.

Because of this, when he decided he was going to throw a dance for the demigods towards the end of the summer as a reward for accepting children of other pantheons into their Greek camp so well, most of the other gods decided to just let him have it rather than argue. (Considering that Hera and Zeus had gotten into three separate spats since the Solstice began, they'd all had enough godly screaming for one meeting.)

So at about 8:30 on the nose - since he's used to following a tight schedule on the sun chariot and he's excited about this, he'll be on time - a flaming, bright red Maserati drives up to the ampitheater. Apollo doesn't even have to lift a finger for the trunk to open, and speakers as well as state of the art DJ equipment rise up onto a platform. He waves his hand, and club music with a thumping bassline starts playing.

(Never say that Apollo doesn't like to make an entrance.)

Requests will be taken all night by Apollo, who will be manning the dj booth as well as making up freestyle haikus. He's one of the more amicable gods, especially to his kids, which he's hosted more of at Camp Half Blood and Camp Jupiter combined than any other god. He's charming and younger looking than most gods, with a cocky smile and sandy hair.
If you're a pretty girl, he might hit on you.

(Apologies in advance. He'd say old habits die hard because he's right. Sorry, Hunters of Artemis.)

I guess making a nudist comment would be obvious here. [ She comments dryly, smirking a little at the joke in her head. ]

I'd rather be in sweatpants right now, but this isn't terrible. [ Her foot pokes out from under her dress to reveal a sensible shoe with a cushioned sole. ]

Hah. Hah. [There's a smirk right back, along with a shake of the head.]

I should have thought to wear something other than heels, but it is just for one night. After this is over we can go back to the cabin and never do this again. I hope Apollo is pleased with himself.

He should be because neither of us are sitting in our beds studying and using Cash Cab as background noise.

[ Though, to be frank, that sounds very appealing right now. No, she has business to tend to before the night ends. ]

How's your thing with Ron going?

Even though that'd be a better use of our time. I think this is his way of telling us all to take a break.

[At the mention of the redhead, she kind of looks horrified. Natalie knew, of course. Hermione had probably mentioned it off-handedly while she was trying to get ready and without giving it much thought. But now that they were at the dance and they were going in circles? It was...hard. She manages a weak smile and a shrug.] All right, I suppose. Things are as they've always been.

[ That reaction isn't what she expected. Then again, if Ron is her date, then wouldn't she see the two of them together more than she has so far this evening? Something is up, but Natalie tries to keep mum about it. As if she could offer advice on the matter. ]

Are you - wait, really?

[ What was that about not prying? ]

[She's quick to the defense, frowning slightly.]

Yes, really. Ron and I are just friends, just like always. [Which isn't exactly true. She knew Ron thought he was asking her as a date, but she was just too stubborn to admit it. Just like she was too stubborn to admit she might have very strong feelings for him, too. So what if the next time she'll see him at the dance will probably end with them yelling at each other and both leaving the dance in tears? ~~Which is exactly what happens, as it turns out.~~ That wasn't the point.

She was fast though, placing her hands on her hips and giving Natalie an appraising look.]

Have you spoken to Leo?

[ As far as she knows, he hasn't shown up with anyone. She doesn't feel right to sigh in relief because she hasn't gone through with her initial plan for the evening.

Since Hermione's asking, however, she'll oblige so she doesn't have to talk about Ron because that is clearly weighing her down tonight ]

I'm going to when I see a window. When he's off the dance floor, anyway.

[She lifts both of her eyebrows at that, glancing to see if she can spot the boy from where she's standing.]

...are you ready for it? [She doesn't know Natalie's plan, of course, but based on their previous conversation she could only draw conclusion that she had one at all.]

Yes and no.

[ It's the worst non-answer she can give, but it's also the truth. ] I know what I'm gonna say but it's just - I don't know if I want to hear what he has to say about it? [ Which is idiocy, she knows, because what's the point of not knowing? It will just put her through more teenage agony. ]

[That was always the constant fear, wasn't it? What everyone else would say. The most she could offer was a sympathetic smile.]

I hardly doubt it will be a bad thing. It's Leo. If anything he's probably assuming the same about you.

[ At least Hermione doesn't think she's totally ridiculous for feeling that way. She had always considered her half-sister a far more rational person than herself - but what is rational about being sixteen and liking someone intensely? Nothing.

She exhales through a thin line between her lips and half-smiles. ]

[There is absolutely nothing rational about it, nope nope nope. Of course Hermione's going to focus on Natalie and Leo because it was much less confusing and far more rational than herself and Ron. She just tilts her head slightly, lifting a shoulder in a shrug.]

I expect full disclosure at the end of the night though.
