I know what we're gonna do!

Who: Ferb and EVERYONE!
What: Let's build a roller coaster!
Where: Starts at the forges but really, this is going all over the place!
When: September 3, Morning until early evening
Why: After the kidnapping fiasco and the revelation that he won't be going home...Ferb decides to end the summer the right way.

no he had not recovered. Ferb felt awful...for the next who knew how long he was going to be unable to see his family. Sure he had blood relatives here and that was fine. But Ferb was of the persuasion that Blood did no equate to family. This didn't mean he was going to sit about and sulk. That just wasn't him. Seize the day, live for the moment. Without his brother...Ferb would need to learn to be his own optimistic voice.

So the morning of the third he woke up with a plan. It wasn't spur of the moment or excessively complex; it was just something to do. With his celestial screw driver in hand he began to work. Connecting and building track here. Loading it up and testing that the corkscrew had the perfect velocity. Every turn and drop perfectly planned.

Now he was doing this out in the open, ignoring anyone who was staring. If someone wanted to help he wasn't going to stop them because soon enough....there is a roller coaster spanning most of the camp.

Meet Ferb Fletcher, Camp Halfblood.

Little brother had the right idea. Granted, Leo had a bunch of other projects to work on, too, but when you're building a freaking roller coaster around a summer camp? As soon as he realized what Ferb was doing, Leo was all for it, hopping right in and pulling the tools they'd need from his belt. Turning this place into a theme park sounded like a great way to help the camp recover from that whole Red Room incident. They could use a little fun after that.

Studying the blueprints with something like admiration - why hadn't he thought of something like this before? - Leo grinned and said, "This is awesome, Ferb! Everyone's gonna love it." And if they didn't, Leo thought, they obviously didn't know how to have fun. Sure, it was fun to think about fun when the summer campers were effectively trapped here after being kidnapped, but at least someone was doing it!

"I'll work on this part," he decided, pointing at a large section of the track and looking up for approval. He may be the counselor for their cabin, but this was Ferb's project, so this time, he'd follow the younger boy's lead.

[Naomi is trying really hard not to spend this entire week crying - but it's clear to anyone who sees the thirteen year old that's exactly what she's been doing. Her eyes are puffy as she passes by the forges with the intention of going to the ampitheatre.

Then she gets distracted by Ferb building... Something. Wait. A roller coaster? No way!

Naomi rubs her eyes, walking over to him. "What're you doin'?"

Heck yeah she'd like to help. She takes the hammer offering him a little smile.

"Okay, but I'm not really good at building things."

Probably for the best.

She let's him steer her to a spot to start, looking down at the blue prints while biting her bottom lip. Okay. This doesn't look... Too hard.

"Did you make these yourself?"

Dany notices Ferb is gone early one morning, and even after breakfast, she can't find her youngest brother anywhere.

It doesn't take long after she walks away from the dining pavilion to notice the roller coaster that's being erected along the perimeter of the camp. She has to marvel at it at first - she's never been on one, herself.

Then, she sets out to go find Ferb.

The hair certainly does help. It's something they have in common.

She finally finds him, blow-torching a bit of the roller-coaster, and she crouches down, tapping him on the shoulder.

"You are doing marvelous work, Ferb."

Her eyes wander over the blueprints - she is truly proud. Only a son of Hephaestus could ever hope to accomplish something so advanced in a short period of time, but Ferb seems more than capable of doing so.

"Have you started work on the trains yet? I'd be glad to help with those."

"Dear Ferb, I would be happy to help you on this endeavor."

She reaches down to pat his hair affectionately, then sits next to him, producing a pencil from inside her bag. It's been gnawed on a bit, so it looks worse for the wear - but it's clear that it was chewed on by something decidedly not human.

She sketches out the beginnings of a train - just simple shapes at first.

It had been a harrowing experience. Anna was thankful she had some questing experience - truth be told, it was nice to see everyone rally together, regardless of parentage and pantheon. And now that they were (mostly) safe and healthy, she wanted to be certain that people were generally OK.

Which brings her here, out of curiosity, hands clasped behind her back.

"I see you've been productive."

"Need you any help?"

She even holds both hands up for reference. "I may not be a builder, but I'm very good at memorizing instructions. And, goodness, Ferb, this will be a wonderful addition to camp." Impressive, really! They need a bright spot in their lives right about now.

Everything about the red room kidnappings had been awful for everyone. Since everyone had been rescued and returned to camp, Hermione had been fairly quiet and keeping to herself. However, on that morning she decided to venture out from the Hecate cabin to roam the grounds and see what everyone else was up to.

And that, of course, was how she came across the roller coaster track. She wasn't sure what to think, but curiosity got the better of her as she began to follow the track to the source. It didn't take her long to spot Ferb though, and she paused to watch him work.

"...how long are you planning to keep this up and out in the open?"

A shrug usually wasn't that great of a sign, but she couldn't argue that. Even if it didn't disappear on its own, it wasn't like Camp wasn't accustomed to messes now and then. She continued examining the work of the coaster, gently touching the track where it was finished. Definitely solid workmanship.

"It's going to be really nice when it's done though. You're planning to finish it today?"
sometimesinsufferable: (It's the mess)

She knew Ferb was a boy of very few words, and she respected that, but unfortunately she wasn't. She had come across something in Ferb's design that caused her to pause, running her fingers over the track again as she thought it through.

"Wouldn't you have more speed coming around if this were a sharper angle?" It looked like a newly constructed section, at least. Maybe it wouldn't be hard to fix.
