I know what we're gonna do!
Who: Ferb and EVERYONE!
What: Let's build a roller coaster!
Where: Starts at the forges but really, this is going all over the place!
When: September 3, Morning until early evening
Why: After the kidnapping fiasco and the revelation that he won't be going home...Ferb decides to end the summer the right way.
no he had not recovered. Ferb felt awful...for the next who knew how long he was going to be unable to see his family. Sure he had blood relatives here and that was fine. But Ferb was of the persuasion that Blood did no equate to family. This didn't mean he was going to sit about and sulk. That just wasn't him. Seize the day, live for the moment. Without his brother...Ferb would need to learn to be his own optimistic voice.
So the morning of the third he woke up with a plan. It wasn't spur of the moment or excessively complex; it was just something to do. With his celestial screw driver in hand he began to work. Connecting and building track here. Loading it up and testing that the corkscrew had the perfect velocity. Every turn and drop perfectly planned.
Now he was doing this out in the open, ignoring anyone who was staring. If someone wanted to help he wasn't going to stop them because soon enough....there is a roller coaster spanning most of the camp.
Meet Ferb Fletcher, Camp Halfblood.

Meet Ferb Fletcher, Camp Halfblood.

But it was nice to have family helping again. Ferb stepped over to Leo, holding up the blueprints so the older boy know just where this crazy thing was going to go.

"I'll work on this part," he decided, pointing at a large section of the track and looking up for approval. He may be the counselor for their cabin, but this was Ferb's project, so this time, he'd follow the younger boy's lead.

Ferb leaned up a little, another thing to get used to, looking over the part. After a moment he nods, a tiny smile tugging on the corner of his lips. Briefly, soon the laconic look is back in place and he's handing a bag of screws to Leo.

Then she gets distracted by Ferb building... Something. Wait. A roller coaster? No way!
Naomi rubs her eyes, walking over to him. "What're you doin'?"

"Okay, but I'm not really good at building things."

Though he does stay near by just in case something should go amiss.

She let's him steer her to a spot to start, looking down at the blue prints while biting her bottom lip. Okay. This doesn't look... Too hard.
"Did you make these yourself?"

It doesn't take long after she walks away from the dining pavilion to notice the roller coaster that's being erected along the perimeter of the camp. She has to marvel at it at first - she's never been on one, herself.
Then, she sets out to go find Ferb.

She finally finds him, blow-torching a bit of the roller-coaster, and she crouches down, tapping him on the shoulder.
"You are doing marvelous work, Ferb."

"Have you started work on the trains yet? I'd be glad to help with those."
no subject
"You could help design them if you'd like." Ferb tended to be far more talkative to family members. And Dany and Leo were considered as such. Even if the recent trauma may have left him a little bit more silent then they would have become used to.

She reaches down to pat his hair affectionately, then sits next to him, producing a pencil from inside her bag. It's been gnawed on a bit, so it looks worse for the wear - but it's clear that it was chewed on by something decidedly not human.
She sketches out the beginnings of a train - just simple shapes at first.

Which brings her here, out of curiosity, hands clasped behind her back.
"I see you've been productive."

He looks over at Anna and gives a small nod, letting his graze drift across the nearly finished coaster track.

She even holds both hands up for reference. "I may not be a builder, but I'm very good at memorizing instructions. And, goodness, Ferb, this will be a wonderful addition to camp." Impressive, really! They need a bright spot in their lives right about now.

And that, of course, was how she came across the roller coaster track. She wasn't sure what to think, but curiosity got the better of her as she began to follow the track to the source. It didn't take her long to spot Ferb though, and she paused to watch him work.
"...how long are you planning to keep this up and out in the open?"

His train of thought was cut short and he glanced back at Hermione. A moment to think and then he shrugs. Usually the clean up takes care of it's self. Hopefully it'll happen here too...if not clean up was all on him.

"It's going to be really nice when it's done though. You're planning to finish it today?"

"Wouldn't you have more speed coming around if this were a sharper angle?" It looked like a newly constructed section, at least. Maybe it wouldn't be hard to fix.
