THE QUEST FOR THE APPLES OF IDUNN
Who: Tatiana Tooth, Flynn Scifo, Bay Kennish, Mike Warren, Karrin Murphy, Lydia Martin, Melinda Blackburn, and Marek Blackburn
What: The Quest for the Apples of Idunn.
Where: Yellowstone National Park.
When: December 3rd - December 7th
Why: The Norse gods are feeling under the weather.
It's no secret that the Norse gods at camp are restless for more information about the predicament they've found themselves in. It must be hard, waking up one day and having a Greek or Roman goddess come to you and tell you you're apparently what happened to the Norse gods after their personal version of the apocalypse.
It's also no secret that the Norse gods have been, for the past week, feeling very, very sick. They've joined together to discuss it, but it doesn't seem like any answers are coming any time soon. Annabeth, thankfully, has thought of a solution and went to Chiron about it. In her journey across America to find out more information (as well as seek out) some Norse, she'd read about Idunn and her apples. It's said that the gods of Asgard ate these apples to stay youthful and rejuvenated. She suggested to Chiron to send out a party of the Norse as well as some hand-picked campers to find these apples, as well as a branch from the tree they grow on, so they may grow them at camp.
On the morning of December 2, when she was to form the questing group, she contacted Rachel at the Big House. This was the prophecy she recieved:
A group of heroes on a search for truth
Cross a nation for the fruit.
The eldest tree still on display
Bears gifts and answers stolen away.
Find the fruit amongst the stone
The present repeats what the past has known.
The questers are expected to leave at noon on December 3, and must return by nightfall on December 7 to not risk the Norse getting any weaker. They will be equipped with backpacks containing a small bedroll, two vials each of nectar (one-half of the vial will cure most wounds, a whole vial will cure fatal wounds) and one piece of ambrosia (one half will cure most wounds, a whole piece will cure a fatal wound), mortal first-aid equipment like bandages, matches, a length of rope, and three golden drachmas to facilitate IMs with. They may take their weapons to aid them, as well as any special items they may have on their person at this time.
Good luck.

This is a fact that the reincarnation of the protector of the Bifrost completely and utterly forgot.
When he arrives at the cave, finally, he looks like...well. Like he fought a bear. Which he had the misfortune of actually doing so. Flynn looks around, taking in the scene, and gives them a somewhat sheepish smile.]
Got lost. And...I forgot this park is not only famous for the geyser, but also grizzly bears. I'm sorry.

[Mike looks Flynn over for obvious injuries, handing the last piece of apple to Tatiana and pulling out the second one.]
We got the apples- well, we got two of them. We're each eating a piece and saving some for the road back, if we need them. We should be able to have the children of Demeter grow a new tree.
[Since... otherwise they're basically screwed. This has to work out. He starts to cut the second apple, coring it like before and dividing it into even quarters.]

You fought a bear? [ ... disregarding the fact that they just faced a giant bird and a giant... well, giant.
She accepts her piece from Mike, but rather than eat it right away she holds out her other hand to take the second core, too. ] Hopefully these cores will be enough.

Yes, I'm alright, and...yeah, I fought a bear. The bear's fine, I just rendered it unconscious. Somehow.
[Flynn nods.]
Well, it's something. I'm sure Demeter's children will appreciate a challenge, anyway.
[After Mike hands out the slices, Flynn will ask:]
So...are we ready?

[He takes a bite of his piece. It's amazing- even better than home-made apple pie. Crunchy and juicy and perfect.]
no subject
But she nods to them both, bringing her piece up to take a bite from it as well. If she had to describe it, it'd be like eating sunlight, warm and bright and good. ]

A strong, stoic man walks toward the foot of an immense tree. At the roots sits a great well with an old man's face carved into it. He takes a deep breath and looks into the depths of the well and sees nothing, only liquid. He reaches down to his hip and retrieves a knife with which he cuts off one of his ears, dropping it into the well as a sacrifice. Almost instantly, his other ear begins to hear with great ability - farther and louder than he's ever heard before. Strangely, he sees something rising out of the well before him - a beautiful horn. His hand reaches out to grasp it.]

A beautiful young woman screams a war cry and rides a chariot pulled by two great cats through a war-torn battlefield, barreling down enemies as she goes. Slowly, though, she sees her compatriots falling, and begins to weep tears of pure amber. Another flash. She stands before an old man who she somehow feels even older than, despite her youthful appearance. This is Odin, the allfather and leader of the Aesir. He takes her hand and shakes it, saying she has fought valiantly for the Vanir. Another flash, and Freyja stands next to Odin in front of a great hall - the runes floating above it proclaim it to be called Sessrumnir. She welcomes in the dead and the fallen heroes of the battle with open arms.]

Two men wade side by side through icy waters - for just a second, the voice whispers the word 'Elivagar'. One has eyes full of storm and fury, and wears leather gloves. A glinting hammer is in his right hand. The other man leads the way, pointing forward with his one good hand - the other being a bare stump. Another flash, and the two men stand before a great giant - Tyr's father Hymir. Hymir gestures to a cauldron, which Tyr nods at resolutely. They'll need it to brew enough ale for Aegir's feast. Tyr attempts to lift the cauldron, but it doesn't budge an inch. When his companion - Thor - tries, though, he manages to lift it over his head. They begin their trudge back to the great halls of the Aesir, cauldron in tow.]
