Who: The entire camp + special guests.
What: Wolves have broken through the camp barriers!
When: Late Wednesday January 29 into early morning on January 30
Where: Various camp locations.
Why: Some canines think they can show Camp Half-Blood who's boss.

It starts with a scream.

The evening harpies, better known as camp's alert system for kids who are out past curfew, have some news for everyone, flying through the camp and shrieking through cabin doors to wake everyone up if they're asleep. (Unless, of course, you're untrained and too young or incapable of fighting tonight. Demeter cabin will be your place of refuge.) After the first call to duty, campers have risen to the occasion with their various plans and promises, patrolling the border and building weapons specifically for their new enemies. The Full Moon passed with only a few howls, much to the surprise of many.

No, these wolves have other plans for the New Moon. Aligned with Gaea and followers of Lycaron, they're a group of six renegades looking for a show and perhaps a tasty snack. One of them just so happens to be in the business of fussing with the Mist, undoing someone's hard work to let in her comrades.

They've got bared teeth, blood on their nails, and a penchant for chaos. Camp, it's time to wake up.

Sky started to open her mouth and respond to Hephaistion, but pauses, turns and watches the wolf make a straight run for them. She's too close to a cabin wall to draw properly, the sword's length proving to be a disservice at the moment. Still, she is not without alternative plans. She's been studying, and while it's not very like a wolf at all, it is moving, so it has joints.

Once the wolf moves close enough she aims a punch for it's shoulderblade without a moment's hesitation. She doesn't looked bothered by the attempt, and she hits with the raw power of someone much larger and weightier than she is. And she's fast, accurate, and merciless. "I would really rather you run away now!"

There was barely a moment after Hephaistion's words before they found themselves in combat. Sky managed to react before he did, and her power surprised him. (It probably surprised the shewolf, too.) As Sky's hit landed, Hephaistion readied his shield and lunged forward, using his not inconsiderable body weight to slam into the wolf he'd hoped had been caught off-balance.

Hephaistion didn't really have time to verify how the wolf took the hit, but he hoped to be able to knock her far enough away to give Sky the space to draw her weapon. However, it left him very close to the wolf herself.

"Really don't care what you'd 'rather' me do, little princess." Even when the girl swings at her and she lets out a whine, she still manages a biting retort. Well, if the little girl's going to give her attitude? She'll give it right back - soft spots for kids gone in an instant and letting the wolf take over. She's knocked down by Hephaistion's blow, of course, but she's agile. She can take it. Quickly, she gets back up as he spaces himself out from Sky, lunging at Hephaistion with a snarl, hoping she'll knock him down.

"I think you should, if you don't leave I'll have to kill you." Sky moved to better draw her sword. She held the sword comfortably in one hand, unphased by the weight. She is phased by the fact that Hephaistion is between them, making it hard for her to safely swing the thing. "You care about that, right?"

This means she has to hold until Hephaistion gets out of the way, or pushes the wolf off. She edged closer so that she's ready to attack when she sees her opening. That textbook said organics needed their fluids were important, that should help right?

The wolf's recovery was a lot faster than he was expecting. Hephaistion caught the full impact of her lunge with is shield. He's not quite down, but it dropped him to one knee and severely weakened his shield arm. It did however put him less in in Sky's way. "I think you should listen to the young lady, wolf. Run away. Leave our camp. Or suffer for it." Did he believe the wolf would listen? Of course not, but he was hoping to keep her attention to give Sky a better chance to swing.

"I wouldn't listen to her if she paid me. Kids should respect their elders," she snarls, standing her ground, watching Sky and Hephaistion as he's knocked back. The little one's pulling out her sword, of course, but she can take it. Sabrina paws the ground for a second before striking out again, this time towards Sky.

"Why would I pay you? You'll be dead soon." Sky lashed with her sword the moment the wolf was in range of the tip. Measure exact to her mechanical eyes. Letting the momentum flow she continued to spin and aim her sword, whipping her head around to spot squarely on the wolf. Meaning to drive her back or slash through her. Whichever came first.

Sky put herself between Hephaistion and the wolf, she was stronger, more durable, and better armed. She was the proper opponent for this wolf, based on her speed and strength.

As part of him being a son of Athena, Hephaistion didn't like not to know things. He couldn't predict that a simple lunge from the wolf would re-injure his shoulder; he didn't anticipate how quick the wolf would be; and he didn't realize that this young girl was clearly a better match for the wolf than he was. The gods gave them each different powers, and Sky had the advantage in this fight. She was between him and the wolf now, so he held his ground as her backup, ready for if the wolf provided him an opening.
