Fly Away to a Cafe

What: The V-Day Café! (Yes, that's what we're going with, no, you can't make WWII jokes.)
Where: The Big House
When: Valentine's Day, mostly evening but various times
Warnings: I have no freakin' clue, it's probably going to depend on individual threads

At 6:00 sharp, the doors are officially open on the first ever Camp Half-Blood Valentine's Day Café. The two biggest rooms on the first floor of the Big House have been turned into dining rooms, one decorated in a much more traditionally "romantic" oeuvre for couples and the second into a relaxing place to hang out just among friends. Both rooms are serving the same menu, and both have a good number of tables set up to accomodate visitors. As people finish eating, the waiters and waitresses will roll around a dessert cart for people to make selections from. Enjolras will be incredibly reluctantly providing serenades in the romantic dining room with some assistance from Cosette, while Chiron's boombox has been borrowed and tuned to the local pop station for the casual dining room. Have fun, everyone!

Yeah, the lasanga, we had to make sure to get everyone- [Peeta's grabbing a plate from the stack of warmed ones as he speaks, moving to a casserole dish that has a pan full of noodles, cheese, and vegetables in it to scoop out a portion.] It's got squash, carrots, spinach, and a whole lot of other stuff, too. And here-

[Look, he's forking carrots and green beans onto the plate as well, and putting a biscuit in a small space left over - he's Southern, biscuits are a Thing for them. Then he hands the plate to Jehan to give to Nico.]

There should be silverware off to your left.

[Oh man Nico wants to hide under the table so badly, but he commands himself not to give into that temptation. It's rude and cowardly.]

No, I'm not vegetarian.

[He shifts uncomfortably. The son of Hades knows very well that his eating habits are bad. Having people look at him like it's wrong or with concern on their faces just makes it even more uncomfortable for him to talk about.]

If you're in the Underworld, you can't have any of the food and drink there. Not unless you want to stay there forever. And...ah, I don't usually go to the Camps to get food. Camp Jupiter was an exception, since I was visiting my sister when I went there. And...I'm not a cook at all.

[Jehan pauses mid-motion, turning to look at Nico hard]

Well, that's changing right now. Next time you got visit Hades, take a lunch! And grab some of the chicken, I don't even want to know how low on protein you must be!

[And that prompts Peeta to look at Nico in confusion.] I thought that only applied to food and drink from there; are you saying you can't even take anything with you?

[He's grabbing another plate even as he speaks. Some of the chicken and a piece of the fish are both dished up, whether Nico wants them to be or not, and at this point they might as well add on the potatoes and the rice pilaf as well. The portions are actually all pretty small, but they're numerous enough to cover both the first and second helpings for Hades' son.]

We can always make you sandwiches and stuff, you know. You're not taking care of yourself and that's going to get you killed in a really stupid way. Our lives are dangerous enough without giving it more chances to do stuff to us.

Honestly, I don't know about taking food and drink there, but I prefer not to. It feels uncomfortably like eating in front of people who are starving, since there are quite a few down there who still remember. Then there's the issue of time having no real meaning in the Underworld. It makes keeping track extremely difficult, especially when it runs differently there in comparison to the land of the living. I do buy food from the mortals, just...not a lot.

[Nico's sort of gesturing while talking. Nothing big, since he hasn't gotten worked up about it. The younger teen decides to finish his dessert before speaking again.]

Uh.... [He wants to argue, but that look Jehan is giving him is sufficient to quell that.] Sure. If it's...not too much trouble.

If it were any trouble, we would not offer! We want you to be healthy and happy, Nico. Also I'm French and he's Southern so food is kind of an important thing to both of us and we like to feed people. Granted, I'm particularly weird about the food thing for a Frenchman but that's to be expected, what with Maman being who she is. Anyway, eat! Drink! We've sodas and juice and the like.

Leave me out of your stereotyping, Jehan. [Although really, no, he can't argue with that at all. Why else is he doing all this work for no payment?] But he's right, it's not a problem. And if you feel uncomfortable eating down there, and from what I've heard of the place I don't blame you for that, just wear a watch down there and come out to grab some food when you should and not when you think you've earned it. Okay?

[He glances at Peeta, and makes a note that the son of Demeter is far more astute than he gave him credit for.]

I'll have to see how well a watch works. There might be wind-up ones I can use, since anything electric isn't going to help me much.

[Not that it's going to matter at the moment with the restrictions in place, but. Well. They're not always going to be there.]

Ah...if you have water, I'll take that. [Nico gives Jehan a wry look.] Also, I'm Italian, and we supposedly take our food just as seriously. Peeta is probably the most normal out of the three of us.
