After some delays, the camp wide talent show is finally set to go. Or, as Annabeth would call it, CHB Factor, complete with three guests judges to give critique a la the standard reality competition. In the arena is a big stage with the judges’ table off to the side, with seats for Juniper, Mr. D, and Tai. And technically only one of them is actually equipped to do any real judging, but the other two are around to keep the mood light. The performers have a backstage area to prepare themselves for an afternoon of entertainment, leave their instruments or other various props they might need during the show.

The Emcee of the evening is Gabriel Novak. (Much to Annabeth’s chagrin, though she did agree that he would be a more entertaining choice than, well, herself.) She also would like to thank Jason for the idea and Merlin for his rounding up efforts, particularly for a few “secret” performances on the way. This seems to be a good cross-pantheon effort and the excitement in the air is tangible. One can’t help but be proud of their community for coming together for both the good and the bad.

There will be a nice after party after the show, which includes the standard dinner set up buffet style in the middle of camp as well as a large chocolate fountain surrounded by fruits, cakes, and other things to dip into the melted sweet stuff.

[ For once, the Cabin Nine counselor is not participating in these crazy shenanigans; he'll be serving as part of the peanut gallery, instead. He's set up a few of his video scrolls in the best hidden spots around the stage to record, just in case something good happens that none of them will want to forge. And then he kicks back among the audience to enjoy the show. ]

[It's only natural that Dany wants to spend time with her brother here. Even though taking in a performance is mostly solitary activity, it's considered social to go with someone. So after the first performance, she gets up and moves, quietly sitting next to her brother.]

[commandertoolbelt]

[ Leo looks over and grins brightly when Dany joins him, pleased to have some company. Even he can get bored at these things when he's by himself. ]

Yo, Dany! Good show, huh? Who knew so many people here were talented?

[ Or, well. To actually see talents outside of the usual gods-related thing - that's not so common here. ]

[pyrkagia]

I was expecting as much from the Apollo cabin, but everyone else that's signed up - I know I'll be surprised.

[Of course, she's been surprised by the Apollo cabin today, too.]

[commandertoolbelt]

Yeah, same. Though, I don't know about you, but I definitely wasn't expecting Enjolras of all people to sing Tay Swift.

[pyrkagia]

I didn't even know the song. But he did very well, I'm proud of him for actually going up and doing it at all.

[Though it was an...interesting choice. Particularly the part where he pretended he was talking on the phone to someone.]

Natalie, too. She played wonderfully. I don't know how they managed to keep this a secret.

[commandertoolbelt]

I'm just surprised she managed to convince him. [ He laughs. ] I'll bet you anything it was all Nat. She can hide almost anything in the Mist, if she wants. [ His girlfriend is amazing and wow, the things she can do with her powers, man. Just one of the many reasons he adores her. ]

[pyrkagia]

She has much better luck with that sort of thing than I do.

[After all, Natalie and Enjolras do share a special sort of bond - one she doesn't quite understand, but also wouldn't dare to disrupt.]

She's becoming very adept, I agree. But I only wonder where she practices.

[commandertoolbelt]

Yeah, I know! It's totally weird. [ Granted, they've both been in camp longer than Leo has, so he doesn't know exactly how close Enjolras and Natalie are. ] But I guess they share the music thing, so maybe that's got something to do with it.

Hey, if she can actually make herself invisible [ and he knows she can ] then she could do it literally anywhere she wants. She could be hanging out in the bathrooms to practice. [ Gross, Nat. He's going to have to talk to her about that. ]

[pyrkagia]

[She does agree with that, and she gives Leo a little nod. It makes sense. There have been stranger things people bond over.

Though at the bathroom comment, she makes a little face.]

Leo! I seriously hope that's not true.

[Really! Gross.]

[clearasil]

Yo. Are you taping this? [ whispers Natalie, suddenly appearing beside him with hardly a noise. She looks smug, proud to have kept that ridiculous display of hers and Enjolras' under wraps for a while. ]

[commandertoolbelt]

[ He jumps, not having expected Natalie to show up like that, or at all. He figured she'd be busy doing stuff for the show with Enj. ]

What kind of a guy do you think I am? Of course I'm recording this. These are so going on Youtube later.

[clearasil]

Okay, good. I can actually tell my dad about something I've done at camp. [ The whole ... battle stuff was hard from him to wrap his head around, even now. She is pretty sure he still pretends she's at an actual camp. ]

So, what'd you think?

[commandertoolbelt]

Is he even going to recognize the song? [ To be fair, the only reason Leo recognized it is because the girls at Wilderness School made a big deal of it - half of them adoring it, the other half mocking it and Taylor Swift mercilessly. ]

You guys were awesome, Nat! What I want to know, though, is how you got Enjolras to agree to it.

[clearasil]

Thanks. [ She says with a grin, leaning over to peck his cheek. ]

The song grows on you. As for E, well ... I could have threatened him with the stuff that I know about him but we both kinda thought this would be a funny thing to do anyway since we're both big grouches sometimes. [ She chuckles, happy. ] My dad'll probably look it up afterward and sing it in the shower or something.

[commandertoolbelt]

Stuff? What sort of stuff? [ You can't just say things like that and not spill, Nat, you just can't. That's just cruel. Besides, Leo might still have a tiny little grudge against E for for upsetting Dany a while back.

But then, much to his chagrin, Natalie continues and leaves him shuddering. ] Wow. That is not a mental image I needed. Thanks for that.

[clearasil]

You're welcome.

[ Her hand slips into his just because. ] Listen, boyfriend, I'll be real with you but I can't be that real because I promised him not to divulge this information. He has a sensitive side, though, that much I can say.

[commandertoolbelt]

[ He gives her a flat look. Really? That's it, after that build-up? ] That is the biggest cop-out I've ever heard.

[clearasil]

[ The smile on her face remains. ] I can't tell you! I promised him I could never divulge his deepest secret, so you'll just have to deal with it.

[commandertoolbelt]

You can't just say something like that and expect me not to ask! [ Huffs. ]

[clearasil]

Look, I can't help you here. I made a bro's promise.

[commandertoolbelt]

[ Leo heaves an exaggerated sigh. ] Fiiiiine. I'll just have to find out on my own, then.

[clearasil]

[ Natalie rolls her eyes. ] Good luck.

You'd think anyone else would just be satisfied that we both just performed Taylor Swift in front of everyone. Not Leo.

[commandertoolbelt]

You'd be surprised, Nat. I've got some pretty cool tricks up my sleeve for finding out things like that.

[ Or so he says. ]

And believe me, I am! But I have to know why and how this came about, too - that's all. There's got to be a good story behind it.

[clearasil]

I was all, 'Enjolras, you ol' so-and-so, you know what would be hilarous?' and he was like, 'Natalie, you ol' son of a gun, tell me and I probably won't agree.' And then it happened. Like, I don't know what else to tell you. I would never blackmail him into performing Taylor Swift.

[ Other things, however, that's another story, but it's not worth it for "We Are Never Getting Back Together." ]
