Who's Strong and Brave Here to Save the American Way?

Who: Steve Rogers, Annabeth Chase, an NPC demigod...and a surprise
What: Going to get the demigod Tybalt and Dave heard about in Saratoga Springs.
Where: Northern New York
When: May 14-15th
Why: Because Captain America

For once, this quest doesn't have an official prophecy telling the questors to go. This time, it's mostly a warning.

Where the cat and red-eyed one had gone
To save this child they need brains, then brawn.
Siblings two shall go forth
And one shall come into his worth.

But mind the dangers in the Springs
For there shall be one to pull the strings
Of others that are still unknown
And one who will one day atone.

Cheerful little ditty, isn't it?

They had planned to send Annabeth anyway, but the prophecy mentioned siblings so Chiron (reluctantly) told Steve that he was going to get to go on this quest as Edmund was too new. There's no big to-do over this one, though there's still a chance to tell the two good-bye.

[Steve is -- to be honest, a mixture of about five million different emotions. But winning out over them is some kind of nervous excitement. He finally gets a chance to prove himself, to help out the little guy despite Chiron's reluctance and everyone else's hesitancy. This is his one big chance, and he really hopes he doesn't blow it. So when he sees Bucky, he promptly heads over for a tight hug and gives him a nervous grin.]

This is gonna be weird, not doin' this with you.

[Bucky hugs him back, tight and firm]

Tell me about it. I'm gonna be worried until you and Annabeth get back with that kid. But--

[And now he pulls back, holding up the bag]

Ambrosia, nectar, inhaler, allergy medicine. I know Annabeth probably has all that stuff already but better safe than sorry.

Yeah, an' I've got an inhaler too. Somewhere. [He takes the bag with a little nod, makes sure it's somewhere he can keep an eye on it.]

Don't worry too much, I'll try an' say hello if we have time.

Steve, it's you. I'm gonna worry--mostly that you'll get into a fight with someone you shouldn't.

Well, it's a quest, I probably will.

[wintersergeant]

Nah, see, those guys you're supposed to fight. Assumin' you have to fight anyone to get a kid to camp, anyway.

Well, I dunno, we had kinda special circumstances.

Yeah, but y'never know.

[He hugs Steve again]

Promise you'll be safe?

[thestarspangledman]

[Which he returns, somewhat gratefully.] I promise. I'm not gonna fight any cyclopes without you.

[wintersergeant]

If y'do, aim for the eye.

Yessir. [Have a little nudge.] It's gonna be fine. [Though really, he sounds like he's trying to convince himself of that too.]

[So's Bucky. He can't believe Steve is doing this without him]

Yeah, I know it is. Annabeth'll make sure you don't do anythin' stupid.

Hey, I haven't done anything stupid since I got here! [That is a total lie, but shhhh.]

[wintersergeant]

[Bucky fakes a sneeze]

Sorry buddy, I'm allergic to bullshit.

Then you should be sneezing all the time, pal.

Nah, only allergic to Rogers brand bullshit.

[That gets a bit of a shove.] Jerk. You better be around when I get back.

Same here, Buck. [He smiles at that, and some of that nervousness is slipping away now.]

So I gotta come back, obviously.

[wintersergeant]

Yeah.

[Bucky nods]

So don't do anythin' stupid, or I'm gonna kill you.

[thestarspangledman]

I'm not gonna, all the stupid's stayin' here.

[wintersergeant]

[He rolls his eyes and ruffles Steve's hair]

Punk.

Jerk. [He grins again and shrugs.] So I'll...see ya soon, I guess.
