Who: anyone in camp
What: MOVIE NIGHT!!
Where: by the campfire - have we had one of those in a while?
When: May 21
Why: why not. and movie night has been a thing of discussion for a while; it's about time we make a real thing.
It's only Wednesday, and man, this week kind of sucks. Leo knew there would be punishment for breaking the rules, but this particular punishment is more boring than he thought it would be (though he stands by his opinion of it being totally worth it). Somehow or another, this week needs to be salvaged, and he has an idea how to do it.
The second he had some spare time, he grabbed the first satyr he found - thankfully not Coach Hedge - and dragged him into the city on a mission. They got back within a few hours, and it took a few more to get prepared for tonight. There are some modifications he needs to do on those video scrolls he made, but that's for another day. As soon as everything's ready on the technical side, it has to be set up for viewing, and already the sun is getting low in the sky by the time the scrolls are set up and ready to go, all the DVDs they'd found tossed in a box where anyone can see, the campfire being sparked and coaxed into a proper bonfire.
Only then does Leo turn on the scrolls. There are four of them ready for a show, all facing different directions around the fire (and no glare!). Right now, one has Star Wars, another has the cartoon Hercules for a good laugh, the third has Steel Man, and the fourth has... The Little Mermaid. Total accident, he'll swear; it has nothing to do with recent events. Absolutely nothing.
He's not that petty, jeez.
(Heh.)
The movies can be changed out any time; the box is right here where anyone can get to it and Leo's made it so the DVD-scroll connections are easy for anyone to work. And the nymphs are being nice enough to provide popcorn! Awesome, right? You're on your own for candy and drinks, but hey, those aren't too hard to come by. Enjoy the show!

Calling Leo Valdez~~~
"Dude, I knew you'd give into the Force eventually. Don't tell me you watched them without me."

"Sorry to disappoint you, but I watched the trilogy when I was six, and I'm pretty sure you weren't there."
no subject
You're not--
{He lets go of the stranger and nearly stumbles backwards and into the fire, but saves himself at the last second.}
Who are you?
{He's trying for accusatory, but mostly it comes out unnerved or scared.}

Scott McCall has never seen Star Wars.
Months went by, and he'd begun to learn characters' names, what they were like. Heather had even gotten him a lightsaber of his own (not a real one, thank the gods). So now he's pumped to sit down in front of the video scrolls - holy Jupiter, movies at Camp Half-Blood and watch what he's found out is apparently the first and fourth movie in the Star Wars series - however that works is beyond Scott. He's got a bowl of popcorn in his lap and he's ready to go.

Which is exactly why Sojourner has planted herself right in front of Scoot, leaning back against his legs every so often. She's more then excited. It's been ages since she's actually watched Star Wars, and she's very tempted to get them to marathon through all three of the originals and maybe the prequels. Maybe. She doesn't want to turn things into a debate and overload Scoot.
She grins, cheering and waving her blue light saber (courtesy of her parents, she's got a few more for anyone lacking one) when the opening scrawl comes on.
A few minutes into the film she tilts her head back, leaning against his knee and making grabby hands for the popcorn bucket he has.

"Oh!" He feels the sudden pressure against his knee, passing over the bowl amicably. "Sorry, Sojo. Kind of got lost for a second."

Just in time to hear Ariel singing Part of your World.
It takes every ounce of power not to destroy the screen. Every. Ounce.
What the hell Leo.

This, however, is worth a comment or two.
"If you want revenge, might I suggest ice water over his head in the shower?"
no subject
"I'm not looking for revenge."

and because she really doesn't want Enjolras to kill something or someone, much less her, she's elected to steer him away from the Little Mermaid scroll."Why don't you come watch a movie with me, hmm? I want a good laugh and Hercules seems like the ticket. Plus it's Disney, I mean, come on..."
no subject
"Isn't it horribly inaccurate?"

There's a part of her that wonders how accurate any of this is, especially now that she's lived among demigods. Maybe she'll as Nico later if Hades is actually like that, and if so, could he visit to help her roast marshmallows?
Besides her is another DVD, Disney's Snow White.
She hopes no one minds if she puts it on after Hercules.

Then she puts on Snow White and Nico, if possible, goes even quieter. Just. A wave of nostalgia, and some sadness, hits him as he watches the movie. He remembers seeing it for the first time in a movie theater with his mom and sister.
Once the movie ends, he goes over to Naomi.
"Snow White was a good choice," he says.

She settles down next to him again, cocooning herself in a blanket and being remarkably quiet. She turns her head after the movies over, grinning.
"It's one of my families favorites back home!"
no subject
Once the Lion King started playing, he silently slipped back to his "seat." At least someone had enough manners to be quiet while everyone watched their movies. Gosh. Kids today.
no subject
Disney, however, was one of his favorite types of movies (though not Hercules and he quite frankly preferred the French dub of The Little Mermaid). When Nico went to put in The Lion King, Jehan hurries back to his cabin to grab an actual pillow or two, coming back just as Rafiki holds Simba up to the Pride Lands.
"I love this movie."
no subject
He tilted his head at that.
"Haven't seen it until now, honestly. All I know is that it's got lions in it."

Which is exactly why he sidles up next to Nico when he sits down, and - kindly, for once - waits to talk until the singing in an African language is done in the opening.
"I'm guessing this is your first time."

She has a bucket of popcorn at her side and a thermos of water between her knees as she adjusts her position.

Elphaba keeps her voice quiet, so no one takes exception to her speaking, and tries to just...not look as awkward as she feels. She promised some people she'd try to be more social, and she's at least been sharing space with Natalie for a couple of months now and Elphaba did not immediately and obviously hate Natalie like she's hated ninety percent of the camp. So this seems safe. Right?

Still, she definitely wouldn't object to company. She was tempted by Hercules, but she's firmly situated in front of the Little Mermaid scroll. She's a sucker for the Disney princesses, no surprise there.]
