Who: The entire camp!
What: Mr. D has moved up his festival of Apokries to coincide with Halloween! It's time to party! Where: All around the camp!
When: Thursday, October 31st
Why: Because, why not?

It was decided earlier in the month that to coincide with the holiday of Halloween, and to give campers a bit of fun after all this nonsense, that Mr. D would be holding his festival of Apokries early! As such the entire camp has been decked out in all sorts of spoooooky decorations.

It's as though a carnival has been set up over night, with music and food all around. There are satyrs and nymphs handing out candy at cabins (smarties for Athena, warheads for Ares, ect.) for any people wanting to trick or treat,  and campers running around in costumes. 

The ampitheatre has once again become a designated dancing spot, and Apollo might have returned to DJ, the arena miiiight have been transformed into a bit of a Haunted House (with special thanks to Hecate), and Demeter has set up a corn maze for campers to navigate through! 

It's time to have some fun!

THE CORN MAZE

[The corn maze is near the Archery Field, and is both intricately designed and full of little traps. Will you venture through it and try to find your way out?]

[ Wonderbeth Chase is raring to go at the entrance to the corn maze. She'd heard of a little request for the corn maze and had been curious to see the results.

Judging from the yelps she can hear from the outside, it seems to be successful.

So, who needs a daughter of Athena on their side? ]

*Sitting atop one of the walls was a scarecrow. It looked like idol decoration, decayed and old... adding to the ambiance of the game. Of course... if everything appeared as it was the world would be a very dull place. Bay watched from her disguise as Annabeth stood at the entrance... this could be good.*

*Prepare for a maze that is not your friend, Wise Girl.*

[allnerves]

[ Annabeth sighs - she can't wait for Percy for forever so she decides to wander in, trusty knife tucked into her boot, Lasso of Truth in hand. Just because she's wearing a skirt doesn't mean that she's any less prepared for what's to come. She's seen what the Hecate kids are capable of doing, the ways Demeter kids can get plants to do what they need them to do. She's ready. Invincible even. ]

*First thing to happen? As soon as Annabeth has a few feet between her and the entrance, there's a pit, and no entrance. Of course, nothing has actually changed, Bay shapes illusions, not the mist itself. It also means Bay can shape things outside of what a person expects.*

*Other than that, the maze seems pretty normal.*

[ She knows that the ground is still there. After all, this is next to the strawberry fields. It still doesn't stop the feeling of her stomach dropping. She flexes her hand and clenches her fist taking another step forward, closer to the pit until she toes the edge. And then then a little further than that. ]

[Nico eyes the corn maze like he's not so sure about going in there. To be fair, he kind of does because he doesn't think he's ever been in one before. He's maybe 90% sure.

He spies Annabeth and immediately searches for Percy. A microscopic frown forms when Nico doesn't see him, but it's quick to go away. He hesitates, unsure if he should approach her or not.]

[allnerves]

Hey, Nico.

[ Annabeth spies him first, lifting her hand to give a friendly wave. She's pleased to see him out and about, having been uncertain that he would join in on the festivities or not. ]

Pumpkin King?

[deathdiduspart]

[Well. Nico trudges over now that the jig is up. He rolls his eyes.]

Don't even get me started. Someone thought it would be a good idea.

[Okay, more like two someones.]

Are you waiting for someone?

[allnerves]

No one in particular. Percy's off eating so I decided to check this out. [ Her smile widens. ] It is a good idea. It suits you.

[ With a curious tilt of her head, she gestures to the entrance of the maze. ] Have you been in yet?

[Corn Maze, let's go! An important part of any New England Halloween, at least, if you asked Elizabeth. She and the hunters never did much for the holiday, and she certainly never celebrated it back in Columbia, but this year was different. Having braided her hair in the well-known side braid, Elizabeth had chosen to doll herself up as one bow-shooting literary heroine.

On her shoulder was her raven, Songbird, who had been kind enough to sit still to be painted in the likeness of a Mockingjay. She'll be around the whole camp, though, hanging out, getting to know people. Simply enjoying being somewhat off-duty.]

[So the Joker over here runs ahead of her through the corn maze.

Then he stops, kisses the palm of his left hand, and holds up three fingers to Elizabeth.]

[toeverywhere]

[Okay, she has to laugh at that.] A showing of peace from your district? [She quirks an eyebrow at him, as Songbird takes off from her shoulder and moves over towards Gabriel. Impressively, he chirps the notes from the song.]

[angeliaforos]

Something like that.

[He holds his hand out for Songbird to land on, smirking a little.]

Though I don't have any weird parachute things for you. Sorry.

[toeverywhere]

It's alright. I got a whole bunch of candy from the Capitol, earlier. [Songbird lands on Gabriel's hand, gives him a surprisingly judging look, before settling down.]

Songbird! Be nice. We like Gabe.

[She turns back to him.]

You look great.

[ Scary or not, one haunted house isn't enough for a Halloween night, so this pirate has made his way to Heather's awesome corn maze. It sounded like a great idea, and man, did she deliver! Look at this thing; it's like their own personal labyrinth.

He's so got this one, too. There's a compass tucked somewhere in his belt (yes, he still has his tool belt, it's just hidden under all this piratey stuff). Cheating may happen, but that's just in case he gets lost later. For now, he's ready for some tricks and traps and all that good stuff. Bring it on! ]

[Hey there captain, how about a first mate.

Okay. Actually how about a Sojourner who has gotten terribly lost in this maze. HELP!]

Go to the corn maze they said, it'll be fun they said...

[She looks left and right, finally spotting Leo and almost looks about ready to cry.]

Leeeeoooo! Please tell me you're real and not a mirage brought on from this evil maze!?

[commandertoolbelt]

[ Turning at the sound of his name, Leo grins. He's putting on a dumb pirate accent in accordance with the costume. ]

I know I appear too good to be true, but I can assure you that I am most definitely real, savvy?

[renegadehero]

[Dumb accents are the best, especially pirates.]

Savvy.

[Pause.]

What the hell does 'savvy' even mean?

[commandertoolbelt]

[ He opens his mouth to reply, but... ]

...I don't know, actually.

[ Shrug. It's piratey. ]

[Despite his protests, Hephaistion did finally decide to dress in costume for the party although no one could claim he was being all that creative by dressing as his namesake. (At least Macedonian armor looks a bit different than the traditional Greek, so it still somehow counted as dressing up.)

He's standing at the start of the corn maze with a thoughtful expression on his face. This sort of thing was more fun to do with someone, but since he'd nearly skipped the celebration entirely, he hadn't made plans to meet anyone.

Maybe he would run into someone...]

You know, I thought Sadie and I were uncreative with our costumes, but you just raided the armory.

[Tybalt appears out of the shadows, smirking a bit. He's done up as dead Tybalt Capulet]

[Tybalt's sudden appearance didn't startle Hephaistion nearly as much as the first time the magician did it, but it would certainly take some getting used to]

I did not. Anyone who knows their history should be able to see the difference between Greek and Macedonian armor. [a beat] Then again, many people do not know there's a difference between Greece and Macedonia at all, so I suppose I have to at least concede that point.

But this didn't come from the armory.

Anyone who knows their Greek history. I know plenty of my own.

[He studies the armor]

Macedonia?

I'm sure there are a few Greek historical figures that even the uninitiated could remember. I'm no expert by any means, but even I know more than just a few famous Egyptian names. [also, the Greeks controlled Egypt for a while, so Hephaistion's study of military history had given him an excuse to look it up. But, in conclusion, he shrugs. He'll back off in the spirit of the holiday] But I know not everyone cares about that kinda thing. I just pay attention to stuff like that. It's fun.

[and in explanation] Macedonia was its own country once. Now most of it is a region of northern Greece
