Who: The entire camp!
What: Mr. D has moved up his festival of Apokries to coincide with Halloween! It's time to party! Where: All around the camp!
When: Thursday, October 31st
Why: Because, why not?

It was decided earlier in the month that to coincide with the holiday of Halloween, and to give campers a bit of fun after all this nonsense, that Mr. D would be holding his festival of Apokries early! As such the entire camp has been decked out in all sorts of spoooooky decorations.

It's as though a carnival has been set up over night, with music and food all around. There are satyrs and nymphs handing out candy at cabins (smarties for Athena, warheads for Ares, ect.) for any people wanting to trick or treat,  and campers running around in costumes. 

The ampitheatre has once again become a designated dancing spot, and Apollo might have returned to DJ, the arena miiiight have been transformed into a bit of a Haunted House (with special thanks to Hecate), and Demeter has set up a corn maze for campers to navigate through! 

It's time to have some fun!

[and there is a familiar face, even though he was in costume and makeup. Hephaistion had slowly been meeting with those he knew from his times before at camp, and he finally managed an excuse to bump into Jehan]

What's the custom? Trick or Treat?

I have no idea! I'm only doing this because Naomi pouted at me.

[He laughs and hands Hephaistion some of the treats]

And yes, I'm cold.

[Hephaistion tries the candy rose petal first. These are what he remembers from one of his last visits to camp]

Naomi must be very persuasive to get you out here in such a state. Your costume looks great, but [ever a gentleman, Hephaistion unhooks the cape from his costume and drapes it loosely around Jehan's shoulders] take a moment when no one's looking to warm up a little. The red doesn't really match, but there's no point in suffering for you art the entire time you're out here.

[He laughs, blushing this time as he takes the cape]

Oh, but all true artists suffer in someway. Generally monetarily, but it is suffering nonetheless.

Shirtless in October is very daring of you, I'll give you that, but your art is no less appreciated if you're a little less cold for a moment.

[he snaps his fingers as if he's just remembered something]

I have a treat for you as well, Jehan. A little something from back home.

[he passes Jehan a set of komboloi, Greek worry beads. The beads themselves are dusty rose-coloured resin.]

[Jehan gasps happily when he sees them, taking the beads carefully]

Oh, they're gorgeous Hephaistion. Merci. A rosary?

More like meditation beads. They're called komboloi. Here. I'll show you how to use them.

[He pulls another set of beads out that are blue and decorated with a single owl charm. He flips the beads around his hand a few times in demonstration then does a couple of fast tricks before stowing them away again.] You use the sound of the beads hitting together and the motion of your hand so you don't have to think about things that worry you. I use them to help me focus while I try to multitask. [shrugs]

But I can show you more later when there aren't any costumes or treats that demand your attention. I just didn't want to forget to give them to you. [shy smile] The colour reminded me of your roses.

Oh, where were these when I was trying to study maths? [He laughs, blushing at the compliment, and slips the beads on his wrist for now to keep them from getting lost] Thank you very much, Hephaistion. And--ah, if Naomi starts to bother you just tell me? She's adorable but so very hyperactive.

Well, now they'll be there for some other studies of yours. I find them useful for all kinds of situations. [The laugh widens his smile. Yes, it was good to see a familiar face here at camp. Although they hadn't been terribly close before, he'd missed Jehan. He's lovely.] I'm so glad you like them.

It's no bother. I can handle a little hyperactive. There are no issues so far.

[he pulls a little at the cape around Jehan's shoulders] How have you been keeping since the last time I was here?

[shylyintrepid]

[Jehan's smile goes a little more...fragile, but it's still there]

Okay, more or less. Did they tell you about the Red Room kidnapping the summer campers?

[somatophylax]

I was briefed a little about Red Room, but I don't know the whole story.

[A fact which displeases him for several reasons. One, because he wasn't there to help fight it, and Two, because he doesn't like having only partial information about something as important as this. And Three: the look on Jehna's face right now.

He sees Jehan's smile falter, and his own expression softens]
This is a party night. We can have the serious conversation later. No need to wade into it at this very moment. It is just so good to see you here, Jehan.

It's good to be here. I was going to spend the winter here, after going back home to take a few tests. I can't wait to see what the camp does for it.

[somatophylax]

I've never been here during the winter months before. After this grand spectacle, I'm curious to see what the camp comes up with for the much larger holidays. [provided that nothing else bad happens.

There's a weight on the camp from the events that happened while he was gone. In time, he'll get the full story from someone, but not during a festival]

What tests are awaiting you all the way back at home?

[shylyintrepid]

Graduation tests. I've been homeschooled and if I can pass those tests, I'll be officially done with mandatory education.

[somatophylax]

Ah. A preemptive congratulations for when you do take them. [A side effect of his mother's gift, Hephaistion took those tests over a year ago. He's been learning from his tutors for fun ever since then.] If you ever need any help studying for them, my French is a little lousy, but I'll help if I can.

[He tugs a little on his cape around Jehan's shoulders] Have any big plans for later tonight? Other than handing out treats, there's a lot going on around here.

[Lucky. He leans into Hephaistion's touch a bit]

Not really. I only dressed up for Naomi's sake and because Dany wanted a Puck to go with her Titania. Or I talked her into Titania, I don't remember.
