Who: The entire camp!
What: Mr. D has moved up his festival of Apokries to coincide with Halloween! It's time to party! Where: All around the camp!
When: Thursday, October 31st
Why: Because, why not?

It was decided earlier in the month that to coincide with the holiday of Halloween, and to give campers a bit of fun after all this nonsense, that Mr. D would be holding his festival of Apokries early! As such the entire camp has been decked out in all sorts of spoooooky decorations.

It's as though a carnival has been set up over night, with music and food all around. There are satyrs and nymphs handing out candy at cabins (smarties for Athena, warheads for Ares, ect.) for any people wanting to trick or treat,  and campers running around in costumes. 

The ampitheatre has once again become a designated dancing spot, and Apollo might have returned to DJ, the arena miiiight have been transformed into a bit of a Haunted House (with special thanks to Hecate), and Demeter has set up a corn maze for campers to navigate through! 

It's time to have some fun!

You'd think so, wouldn't you, but I'm gonna tell you why you're wrong. [Dave makes a grand gesture - what he says really isn't meant as an insult.]

I mean, think about it, this guy sneaks into your house while you're sleeping, without waking you up. Haven't you ever heard the song? He sees you when you're sleeping and knows when you're awake. He watches you all fuckin' year long to make sure you're being a good kid and if you're not then you're not getting any presents.

[He looks over at her, utterly serious.]

And what kind of creepy old man always wants you to sit on his lap while you whisper oh so gently into his ear and tell him your most heartfelt Christmas wishes? I'll tell you what the scariest part is, though - how does someone at that kind of risk of type two diabetes stay alive for hundreds of years? Santa is fuckin' terrifying, Callie. It's a perfect costume.

*She wasn't sure which was worse, that he put this much thought into the argument, that he had some actual points. Of course that thought was quickly pushed aside as she was reminded that her last Christmas she was 10 and then she never really wanted anything to do with the holiday afterwards.*

You do realize I can break into most houses without waking anyone up? Right?

[He sloooowly tilts his head and gives her his most intense, serious look.]

... Are you going to bring me presents?

*...Congrats, Dave, you got your surly and generally ill tempered sister to laugh. If that was your intention or not, she doesn't care, but she's laughing.*

...I'm waiting until after Thanksgiving to think about that, maybe then the senate might have figured out what our stipends look like. New Rome falling kinda messed a lot up.

[Maybe it was his intention, because that might just be the hint of a smirk at his lips as he hears it.

He considers her question, though, quite seriously.]

Then you'd better move over 'cause I'm gonna sit on your knee and tell you what I want.

[He makes a long, drawn out noise that sounds a lot like 'urrghhhhhhhhh' and leans heavily against her side.]

Callie, you can't just say something like that. Think of the children.

*You are close to dangerous waters there.*

You can't go about killing the hopes of children in one breath, then hide behind them.

Either Santa, and the idea good children get good things, is evil. Or it isn't. Because eventually they grow up, and find out it doesn't matter how good you are...

*And you lose everything, regardless of choice. ...But mostly Dave id embarrassing and she didn't want him sitting on her.*

I didn't say shit about Santa being evil. That's somethin' I won't even touch. [Squint.] What's eating you?

Christmas isn't my favorite holiday. My last real Christmas was before my- before I was in the system.

Most holidays are actually pretty bad, now that I think about it.

[Suddenly awkwardness. Dave knows when to stop kidding around, and he frowns at her.]

Yeah. I guess I'm not looking forward to Christmas much this time around either.

The only good I ever got to do on Christmas was make sure my little brother had presents. So he didn't have to deal with the same thing I did.

*Callie leaned against Dave, ever so slightly, this is about as close to warm and fuzzy as she gets.*

But he's got a new family now, so I don't really get to do that either. Why do you think I turn down leave during every holiday when it was offered?
