Of course Peeta's doing something for his brother's birthday, although unlike the café last month, this is more low-key and informal. Over the past couple of days he's spread the word around camp quietly, a word in an ear at a pegasus riding lesson or at an encounter on the training fields, and hopefully no one's told Jehan. When the time finally comes for the party, a collusion with Naomi has gotten Jehan away from their cabin to help her practice her powers. Though knowing Naomi, she'll likely end up in a tree somehow. At least it gives him and whoever shows up to help him time to set up.

There's food, of course, though it's all simple stuff this time and not anything so elaborate as Valentine's Day: various sandwiches, vegetable sticks, fruit slices, a few bowls of candy and pretzels. And of course a cake, because this is Demeter Cabin and this is just what they do, and Jehan has a sweet tooth that's bigger than his body. Anyone's welcome to stop by and grab some food or say hi to the birthday boy, but any fighting will be ejected in a rugby tackle from Peeta so just warnin'.

"Now that- that was fucking wicked crazy, dude." And also something gabriel wouldn't mind doing again. Gods above - that was a weird sensation, to move through shadows, but it was fast, faster than he'd ever been.

The iris cabin is pretty much a hippie cabin. There are walls of vegan snacks lining the back - Mom's unused gifts - and lava lamps are everywhere. And it seems there's more and more each day. Kind of freaky.

He nods a little. "I'm nosy, but I take shit to the grave." Pun intended.

"Definitely a handy ability to have."

Gabriel gets an eye roll for his troubles on the pun, but otherwise it passes without comment. Nico sighs, running a hand through his hair. He doesn't look at the Iris kid and he prays to the gods he's making the right decision.

"If it's true about his feelings to me, then it's...ah...mutual."

Yeah, red cheeks are a go. Congrats, Gabriel, you're the first person outside of Derek to know about this, and the first outside of his close circle of friends to know he's gay.

"Relax. He's an easy kid to fall for like that."

There's an implication of the past behind that, but Gabriel has a reputation. He's had a thing for a good portion of kids at camp. Still, he knows it's hard to come out to someone like that, and...while he wouldn't have guessed it to come from the son of Hades, he wouldn't...not expect it, either. Different people react to their own sexuality in different ways.

"I can help you out with him, y'know. JP's a good kid. You'd make him really happy."

Yes, Nico. He does call Jehan 'JP'. On the daily.

Gabriel doesn't even know the half of it. Nico will agree that Jehan is easy to fall for, though admittedly it took Nico a while. He gives Gabriel a suspicious look.

"Just like that? And you don't know for sure I'll make him happy."

He really doesn't - though in the same respect, Nico doesn't know the half of it for Gabriel on this one. He gives a little nod, though, his voice soft. "You're right up his alley, trust me. Kids like - who you are, what you can do...he's fascinated. And...dude, I dunno you really well, but I know Jean Prouvaire. And I just think he'll be really happy if you own up to your feelings and shit like that."

Nico is still pretty sure he's going to screw up or Jehan will realize that he's not worth it. That there's some guy out there better for him than Nico di Angelo. Still...he can't deny that he wants to try.

"Maybe. I'm not going to guarantee anything."

Confessing sure isn't going to happen for a good while.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that."

He shrugs a little, looking over to Nico, a little smirk on his face.

"You heard me out about it. People don't usually do that. You're a better kid than you think you are."

And then he holds out his hand for a fistbump.

Nico is too tired to argue it. He looks at the outstretched fist and, tentatively, fistbumps.

You modern kids are weird.

Watching Nico stare at it for a moment is weird, but he's glad the kid actually pounds it. He's beginning to think he'd leave him hanging, and, well - that'd just be awkward.

"You've never had one of those before?"

He shakes his head. The Lotus Hotel helped him get used to technology and slang, but it lacked in other things.

"It's not a gesture I'm familiar with."

He blinks a few times, just staring incredulously.

"Wait- seriously? You're tripping me out here, kid."

Nico runs a hand through his hair. At least he doesn't mind sharing that he's from another time period, as long as they don't go near family.

"Didn't have it in the '40's. Or if they did, I was too young to see it."

Yeah, that always trips him up a little. Gabe lets out a little sigh.

"Well, I'm not a handshake kind of guy."
