Who: Dean, and other participants in the competition
What: marksmanship competition!
Where: the archery range
When: backdated to March 8
Warnings: violence against innocent targets?
There are targets all set up at different intervals, and more waiting by the sidelines. It's come to Dean's attention that certain parties may end up being a little on the destructive side for this competition, so he wants to be prepared. Not to mention there are apparently going to be some other showboats coming out this afternoon.
Dean would like them all to bring it.
This being his own competition, he steps up to the plate first, gun in hand. There are very few misses, and most of his shots are tightly clustered on the targets. Beat that, Apollo cabin.

When it's his turn, he steps up confidentially to the plate, and very carefully takes aim. This takes about two minutes. This is very hard, okay. The second Charlie is sure he's got it, he lets the pellet fly and it hits the target dead center.
Score! With a little yip, Charlie jumps and punches a fist into the air. "Did you guys see -- ?"
Boom!
That pellet? One of Charlie's exploding ones.
Most of the target's base is reduced to splinters and he very guiltily tries to hide his slingshot behind his back like no one saw anything. "...Oops..."

"Alright!" She calls, applauding him. "Way to be!"

He scampers out of the way and over to Liz. "Did you see that? I hit it right in the middle!"

Each sound effect is punctuated by him pretending to fire a shot from a finger gun. "I almost thought you were gonna kill that guy!"
no subject
"No way. I'd never kill Percy Jackson. Being a Hunter comes with accuracy to rival you Apollo kids."
no subject
"You should help teach the Apollo Scouts! That Dean guy is gonna give a demonstration too!"

"Is he?" She raises an eyebrow. "Well, I think we mentioned something about me stopping in before, but now I definately will."

Seriously? Seriously? Where was this exploding slingshot ammo when he was a kid?! So disappointed in you, dad, even if Dean had a whole slew of guns growing up. He wasn't so bad back then himself, but this kid is great, and this is why they have the extra targets.
Grinning, he walks up to Charlie and tells him, "You rock, kid."

Deans approval means a lot to Charlie -- this guy is cool, doesn't seem to take shit from anyone, and drives the neatest car in the universe. He beams up at him. "You mean it, really? I know I used the wrong ammo and stuff, but that's my best shot yet?"

There's a wicked smile as the pellet explodes the target into flying splinters of wood, and she claps for him.
"That's the way to do it."

Dany's praise makes him puff up with pride. "Thanks! I tried really hard!"

There's a gentler smile spread across her lips. "Have you been practicing, then?"

Charlie bounces on the balls of his feet, arms swinging a little. "Every single day, right after lunch!"
