Bon Anniversaire a Toi
Who: Jehan, Demeter Cabin, anyone wanting to wish the tiny Frenchman happy birthday
What: Jehan's surprise party, because it's his birthday
Where: Cabin 4, the party cabin!
When: Today, March 6
Warnings: No clue!
Of course Peeta's doing something for his brother's birthday, although unlike the café last month, this is more low-key and informal. Over the past couple of days he's spread the word around camp quietly, a word in an ear at a pegasus riding lesson or at an encounter on the training fields, and hopefully no one's told Jehan. When the time finally comes for the party, a collusion with Naomi has gotten Jehan away from their cabin to help her practice her powers. Though knowing Naomi, she'll likely end up in a tree somehow. At least it gives him and whoever shows up to help him time to set up.
There's food, of course, though it's all simple stuff this time and not anything so elaborate as Valentine's Day: various sandwiches, vegetable sticks, fruit slices, a few bowls of candy and pretzels. And of course a cake, because this is Demeter Cabin and this is just what they do, and Jehan has a sweet tooth that's bigger than his body. Anyone's welcome to stop by and grab some food or say hi to the birthday boy, but any fighting will be ejected in a rugby tackle from Peeta so just warnin'.

"Because you're not noticing it for the life of you."
Life. Ha, ha, ha. Death puns.

"I'm so glad that someone was able to point it out to me." Oh, yes, that statement is just dripping with sarcasm. Nico is not going to apologize for that.
"And now that I've been so graciously informed, what do you want me to do about it?"
no subject
"Yeah, you're welcome." Gabriel shrugs a little. He's not really going to apologize for what he's about to do, either.
"Jehan is like - we're really, really tight. And I want the kid to be happy. He deserves to be happy. So what I'm saying is... like - I don't know, I think I'm damn good at reading people, but what do I fucking know. But I see how he looks at you. Just like - if you don't like him that way back, let the guy down gentle. He's sensitive."
holy fucking shit accidentally hit post comment when I wasn't even HALF DONE
Speaking of which, he can't help casting a wary look around the place. He's not willing to out himself in this mess of people and neither is he willing or comfortable enough to have a conversation like this in public.
"Look, can we talk about this somewhere else? Without a lot of people around to overhear?"
i've done it before, no worries!
Still, he gives a little shrug, looking to the dark-haired boy. "Yeah, totally. My cabin's only got me and my sister, and I doubt she's there."

Never in a million years would Nico have said he'd see the inside of the hippie cabin. And look at him now.
He lets go of the arm he's holding and shoves his hands inside his jacket pockets. The son of Iris is treated to a wary, guarded look.
"How good are you at keeping secrets?"

The iris cabin is pretty much a hippie cabin. There are walls of vegan snacks lining the back - Mom's unused gifts - and lava lamps are everywhere. And it seems there's more and more each day. Kind of freaky.
He nods a little. "I'm nosy, but I take shit to the grave." Pun intended.

Gabriel gets an eye roll for his troubles on the pun, but otherwise it passes without comment. Nico sighs, running a hand through his hair. He doesn't look at the Iris kid and he prays to the gods he's making the right decision.
"If it's true about his feelings to me, then it's...ah...mutual."
Yeah, red cheeks are a go. Congrats, Gabriel, you're the first person outside of Derek to know about this, and the first outside of his close circle of friends to know he's gay.

There's an implication of the past behind that, but Gabriel has a reputation. He's had a thing for a good portion of kids at camp. Still, he knows it's hard to come out to someone like that, and...while he wouldn't have guessed it to come from the son of Hades, he wouldn't...not expect it, either. Different people react to their own sexuality in different ways.
"I can help you out with him, y'know. JP's a good kid. You'd make him really happy."
Yes, Nico. He does call Jehan 'JP'. On the daily.
no subject
"Just like that? And you don't know for sure I'll make him happy."
no subject
no subject
"Maybe. I'm not going to guarantee anything."
Confessing sure isn't going to happen for a good while.

He shrugs a little, looking over to Nico, a little smirk on his face.
"You heard me out about it. People don't usually do that. You're a better kid than you think you are."
And then he holds out his hand for a fistbump.

You modern kids are weird.
no subject
"You've never had one of those before?"
no subject
"It's not a gesture I'm familiar with."
no subject
"Wait- seriously? You're tripping me out here, kid."
no subject
"Didn't have it in the '40's. Or if they did, I was too young to see it."
no subject
"Well, I'm not a handshake kind of guy."
