CAPTURE THE FLAG
Who: All campers!
What: A game of Capture the Flag.
Where: The Forest
When: September 20, 7 PM sharp. Dinner will be served once a team wins.
Why: It's time to work together as a team. Again.
[Mr. D is waiting at the edge of the forest, and Chiron's trotting behind him with a list, inspecting the lines of equipment and making sure all the helmets and breastplates are available and clearly marked for which team they belong to. As each camper shows up to the meeting spot, the centaur ticks them off the list - it's an attendance sheet. Once Chiron's given him the signal, Mr. D begins speaking.]
Let's do this quickly, shall we? This week for Capture the Flag, we're going to be doing things a little differently. It's come to our attention...
[He glances skyward - yes, Hera has been riding him about this lately.]
...that we should do more to integrate the new campers we are hosting at Camp Half-Blood, and make them feel as if they have a home. That being said! This week, you'll be divided differently into teams rather than by cabin, and our captains will be the Roman praetors, since they know all about commandeering armies. Chiron here has done his best to make sure each team has a nice mix of all of you in it, so if you don't like who you've been teamed up with? Don't come crying to me.
The RED team will be headed by Praetor Jason Grace. He'll have the following team members: Alcuin Delaunay, Annie Cresta, Charlie Miller, Dave Strider, Ferb Fletcher, Emile Joly, Gabriel Novak, Heather O'Toole, Johnny Mason, Leo Valdez, Maya Matlin, Mike Warren, Natalie Goodman, Reynaud de Courfeyrac, Sadie Kane, Scott McCall, and Ventus Bradford.
The BLUE team will be headed by Praetor Reyna Rivera. She'll have the following team members: Anna Neumeyer, Bay Kennish, Daenerys Targaryen, Dean Winchester, Eponine Thenardier, Hazel Levesque, Hermione Granger, Jean Prouvaire, Karrin Murphy, Margot Sullivan, Merida of Dunbroch, Millie DeWitt, Ron Weasley, Saralegui Sargon and Sky Smith.
Now. Here are the rules, since I really don't want to see any of you getting maimed out there.
1) No killing. I cannot stress this enough. Lupa's pack lives in the forest, and she's told me she's having them all keep a watchful eye on you in case things get too intense. That being said, if you try anything, there is a very hungry group of wolves that you'll have to answer to.
2) No maiming, either. Chiron is going to be in there as well, working as a medic, but neither he nor I want to see any arms getting chopped off!
3) Absolutely no friendly fire. This is about working together as a group. I'm sure the praetors will stress this to you.
4) All weapons and magical items may be used -
[Chiron cuts him off midway to say 'Ms. Targaryen, put the dragon on your back away.'
Mr. D gives an exasperated sigh and continues.]
All weapons and magical items may be used in this game. Hannibal will be roaming the forest as well, so you're free to use him for...whatever it is that you Romans do with him.
[Yeah, thinking about his time as Bacchus makes his head hurt, so he's just going to Ignore It.
Once everyone's back in their positions after getting their helmets and protective gear, Chiron calls the game on and goes galloping off into the forest.]
[OOC NOTE: I have not included any characters currently on hiatus in these team listings! If you'd like your character to be included, please PM the mod account!]

RED TEAM FLAG - CLEARING IN THE NORTH WOODS
Epiny the Spy
Her goal was simple. Being a Hermes kid, the trickery and thievery came extremely naturally to her. But being with her father being the messenger god, and her role as a drug courier when ever she was back at home, that meant that she was even better at relaying information.
She kept quiet as she approached the clearing, taking her place amongst the underbrush. From here, she could see the formations of the red team. Perfect.]
no subject
For once, he's not invisible, but he is guarding the flag, Kathreftis at the ready. Being invisible takes it out of him - and Eponine's pretty damn good at telling where he is in that state, anyway.]
no subject
It had taken Eponine some time to get her way to the flag, thanks to something that, she later decided to chalk up to magic. Freaking Hecate girls. But once she's gotten herself settled, she can just make out Gabriel. And he's... completely visible. Well, isn't that an interesting thing?
Here's the trick though. She wasn't supposed to, y'know, go for the flag herself. Just see what was going on. But this was Gabe. He was one of her best friends if she even had any. And this?
Was war.
Grinning, she makes her way through the bushes she's in, climbing the nearest tree as quietly as she can. It's for this reason she'd ditched her armor back on her half of camp, opting instead to wrap a blue bandana around her arm to inform everyone of whose team she was on.
Armor was noisy and she did her best work with stealth.
Now up the tree, she kept to the shadows, moving higher until she could creep out on to one of the branches. Here she had a better view of the area. And, y'know, Gabriel.
Perfect.]

natalie along the trees
If her little Friday the Thirteenth experiment proved anything, it was that she strengthened her body's tolerance for camp wide spells. She has a special trick for the Blue Team, lifted from the pages of a fantasy novel. For about fifteen minutes, upon approaching their base, they will forget entirely about their mission. Small windows, but still windows of time they can use to their advantage.
Let's just hope that her own teammates remember the designated openings and protect their borders there. ]
FIXED
Enter Daenerys Targaryen, blue colors blazing, her whip out and at her side. (she wishes she could use her fire, like she did the at the beginning of the summer, but it's too risky.) She's intent, sure she's nearing the red team base - and hoping to find her brother there, as she thinks she may be able to either best him this time or talk sweetly enough that he'll be persuaded to give her the flag -
And then she stops, looking positively dumbfounded.
What was she to do here, again?]
no subject
She's still equipped with a bow and arrow but takes no battle stance, casually reaching the border, at the edge of the clearing. There's a pouch secured on the belt loop of her jeans. That will come into play later. ]
Hi.
[ Fifteen minutes, remember Natalie, don't take your time. ] You look confused.

Sniper no Sniping
The daughter of the Sun God had her bow, arrows, throwing knives, and sword. This time she had armor on which she hated, it was heavy, hot, and made climbing this tree a lot harder. The fletchings of her arrows were in an array of colors, to help her separate the fun arrows from the others.
She volunteered for guard duty, it was the gig she'd be best at. She knew the triggers for various traps, and she had strong sight lines both on the flag and into the woods. She'd detain and disable anyone she spotted. And on home ground the chances she'd be overrun were limited. All in all a good gig to have.
who needs stealth when you've got Dean Winchester
There are monsters out there to be hunted - the one that killed Mom is out there - and here he is, in a camp for demigods and gods-in-training, playing a game of Capture the Flag. It's so ridiculous it almost makes him want to laugh.
But he doesn't laugh. Once the team rosters are called, Dean knows where he's going. Straight over the creek, and after the son of a bitch that ripped up his car. This is the perfect opportunity for some payback, he thinks, and he is on it like white on rice. So once the game is on, Dean charges straight into Red Team territory, guns at the ready and a knife or two just in case, on the lookout for either a flag or a certain son of the rainbow goddess.
Better watch yourself, Gabe. Dean's coming for you. ]
Re: who needs stealth when you've got Dean Winchester
So excuse him for playing around with demigod Skype on the daily. It's not their fault they can't have cell phones like you, Dean.
So Gabriel's guarding the Red Team flag, but he's up a tree in the clearing, keeping a watchful eye on it. He thinks he's high up enough that he doesn't need to be invisible.]
You get stealth, learn to love it Dean.

BLUE TEAM FLAG - NEAR THE ANT HILL
chilling by the flag
but he's also not one for losing. so he's just gonna relax near the flag, and if any red team players get near it, they'll be taking a little nap.]
Re: chilling by the flag
Gabe's sneaking up behind Saralegui invisibly, hoping he won't be noticed as he tries to pull the flag out of the ground.]

sniping from a tree
Merida is crouched in a tree, on one of the higher branches to avoid being seen by the armor she'd been given. An arrow rests in the crook of her bow, her arm drawn slightly to the back so she'd be ready to shoot if necessary. It was a bit like hunting, she supposed, remembering the trips her father used to take her on almost seven hundred years ago. Her eyes flicked to the ground, watching her teammates before she gazed out at the horizon, watching for signs of red.]

As of right now, he wasn't aware of a red head stalking from the trees.]

ant hill
No, the ant hill is much safer.
Despite the myrmekes and all the fun they entail. Which is something Margot is trying to incorporate into her tactics now. If she can get some of them close enough to the flag, at just the right moment...
Communing with animals it not her forte, though, as she studies the creatures, fidgeting with a gold necklace. (Bait, of course.)]
ZEPHYROS CREEK AND SURROUNDING WOODS
Annie on the Banks
Her wild hair had been tamed in the form of two pigtails, twisted in her favorite fishtail braid. Even so, she was playing with the end of one, her small trident-shaped hair pin working to keep her bangs out of her eyes.
From up here, she had a good view of the creek and anyone who decided to try to cross. Moments like this, she could almost remember who she was before, and she could just taste the competition in the air.]
no subject
She eyed the water, wondering if that was how it should act. Or if it was being influenced in some way. She could knock over one of the trees, cross that way... but a Dryad might complain. The same problem if she tried to use her hammer to pull herself over. If only Festus wasn't with Leo...

anna in the woods
What she is especially good at is braiding and she has used both the vegetation of the land and vines from the tip of her sword to make a series of traps, catching anyone by the ankle and hoisting them into the air. They're not easily cut, of course, and some of them, unfortunately, have thorns.
She quickly climbs another tree and drops her trap. With a wave of her hand, a pile of leaves moves to cover the knots. ]
no subject
Maybe in this case, it's 'knot' his day.
But he knows who's work this is, and he swings a little with his ankle, trying to reach the dagger that's fallen out of his pocket. He's seen her vines before.]

charlie in a tree | surrounding woods
Charlie has climbed up into a tree with his slingshot (with some trouble because man that armor is heavy) and is watching for any of the enemy team. He's got stink bombs and celestial bronze pellets ready.
Bring it on.]
no subject
Daenerys approaches him, her whip trailing behind her, for once not coiled around her waist.]
This is what you are to use those bombs for, Charlie?
[The kid probably does need some practice fighting against people he's friends with in the game, and she'd rather it be her get hit by those stink bombs than anyone else on the Blue team - she was the one who created them, after all. Some of them just smell nasty, but some of them have...other surprises in store.]

They'll find him, if they want to team up, trying to climb the Kevlar-vest wearing elephant who is drinking from the creek.]

With a laugh, Heather tries to give Scott a push up Hannibal. It's a shame she couldn't have brought Moneypenny into the game, but their trusty elephant is pretty cool, though one of the Demeter girls on the other team looked a little disappointed she hadn't gotten to him first. ]
So I guess we're not going for stealth tactics here, right?
